Jaguar, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, was appointed as a board member at the drug-fighting agency in April 2015 and immediately sparked speculations that he was warming up to join politics.

He has been traversing the city, especially the slums, doing lots of charity work. This has only fired up speculations that the singer has been setting himself up to contest for the Nairobi’s Starehe Constituency parliamentary seat on a Jubilee ticket.

If this is so, he will have to upstage the incumbent and powerful city politician, Maina Kamanda, at the Jubilee Party primaries.

Flamboyant city businessman Steve Mbogo is also eyeing the seat on an ODM ticket.

There have been unconfirmed rumours that Jaguar has been proposed to become President Uhuru’s chief campaigner for the youth.

When reached for comment, however, Jaguar chose not to reveal his next move or the reasons for his resignation.

“YES I RESIGNED TODAY SO AS TO ATTEND TO OTHER MATTERS. JUST KNOW THAT FOR NOW,” HE SAID.

Last week, a poster doing rounds on social media depicted the artiste as an aspirant for the said seat.

He, however, denied that he was indeed running for the political post.

He said,

“I AM NOT THE ONE WHO MADE THOSE POSTERS. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THEM UP. I AM A DIRECTOR. DO NOT INCLUDE ME IN POLITICAL ISSUES.”

Idris Elba on the road with Jaguar

To promote its new compact sports sedan, Jaguar has teamed with Idris Elba, the star of the former BBC series “Luther” and of “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”

The actor will take the Jaguar XE on a mini European tour, documenting his road trip in a series of short films to be released online starting February 10. In the meantime, updates will be posted to Jaguar’s pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Over three days, Elba will travel around 750 miles from London to Berlin, including a detour to the Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium. The actor will be at the wheel of a Jaguar XE packing a 2.0L engine with 160hp.

With CO2 emissions of just 99g/km, the model is the most fuel-efficient ever produced by Jaguar. Fans can look forward to watching the short films chronicling the road trip this February.

Unveiled last summer at London’s Earl’s Court before going on display at the Paris Motor Show, the new Jaguar XE will be available in Europe later this year at a starting price of €37,000. The sports sedan is not expected to arrive in the US until 2016.

The new XE stands out for its bonded and riveted aluminum construction, which makes it the lightest and most rigid Jaguar of all time. It is also the first Jaguar to come with electric power steering system, a feature that contributes to the car’s enhanced energy efficiency.

Kenyan Fans Instrumental In Fight Against Piracy-Jaguar

Kenyan artiste Jaguar, has called upon local fans to rally behind both the established and the upcoming artists to help fight piracy in the market. The One Centimetre singer was speaking at Kiss Fm’s official re branding ceremony, Monday morning.

“Most Kenyans tend to listen to West African music and forget about our own.”  Jaguar said. “Kenyan music is generally rated ‘poor’ compared to other genres in the continent. We should support local musicians and curb piracy by buying original copies. We are often criticized as a result of low quality videos and the less views we attract on youtube, since the number of Kenyans who visit our YouTube accounts, accumulate to only 3%. ”

The singer also lamented that artists have been abandoned, even by the government regardless of the President’s promise to help local talent. He went ahead to offer some much needed advice to the young upcoming musicians, urging them to “keep working hard and keep pushing. It is not easy and even though I have been in the industry for eight years now, I still think there’s a long way to go”
