‘The enemy spoke to me loudly that night that my husband needs another woman,’ Kambua opens up

Gospel singer Kambua is one strong woman in the eyes of most of us. Her faith has been tested in different ways.

Kambua got married to her husband pastor and businessman Jackson Mathu in 2012 and since then, she waited for seven years before she could hold her baby.

Speaking in a recent YouTube interview Kambua says as a believer, she got to a point her faith was tested and she was not always consistent in believing in what God could do.

“I did get to a place of complete defeat of, okay am out of options. I told God now, whatever it will be,” she said.
“I completely let go of trying to control the situation and completely knowing that it didn’t matter when God would do it and how he would do it. I didn’t know if it was going to be ten years later. But I am okay in you. Use me as I am.”

The mother of one says that although her baby came and she is happy about it, the biggest miracle was finding Kambua as enough in God.

“The baby came and hallelujah and I praise the Lord for that but for me, as Kambua the biggest miracle was finding Kambua as enough in God.”

She went to many hospitals and all answers were the same and frustrating.

“For many years we lived in the grey in the sense that any medical person we met and consulted we got very vague answers and that is one frustrating thing about the fertility journey, you meet specialists who told us there is nothing wrong, keep trying…”

“In Nov 2018 is when we finally got it in black and white and we finally knew this is the condition.

“It broke me in a way that I did not expect. I wanted to know but I wasn’t ready to know.”

Kambua recounts the days she visited her doctor and broke the news to her about her condition.

She had already given up in marriage and she says she was ready to release her husband so he could get children with another person.

“I remember, I was in my doctor’s office and she is such a God sent woman, she gave me the time to get together. We had done this so many times like I was probably expecting not a big deal answer kinda thing.”

She was alone and she called her husband who asked her where she was but Kambua says she lied to him that she was heading to the salon.

“He knew where I was going but I told him I am going to the salon. I got home and I was sobbing and showed him the resultsand I remember him saying, this is what the medical report has said? Okay but what has God said about us. He was so calm.”

Her husband loved kid all along and so the devil was speaking to Kambua to divorce him.

“The enemy spoke to me loudly that night that my husband needs another woman who can give him children and so when I get home, I am going to tell him its okay, ‘I release you to have children coz it is not fair for me to hold you back. So I had my little speech planned and he is here calmly telling me whose report will you believe,” she narrated.

Kambua added that after she told her husband about the medical report, they prayed and that was her moment of release.

“It was when I realised that Kambua can not do anything to fix it but God can in the way that He will.”

That was November 2018 and in December 2018, Kambua says she conceived.

“I remember, my doctor had told me to go back and discuss the options that I would use, I got positive pregnancy tests and she was like Kambua, your God is amazing.”

Kambua says her waiting journey was full of frustrations as some of her friends said insensitive things to her.
“I had people say things like you are rich, why can’t you go for IVF, very thoughtless and insensitive things from people I know and others I don’t know.”

(IVF In vitro fertilisation is a process of fertilisation where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, in vitro. The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman’s ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova from the woman’s ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a liquid in a laboratory.)
Kambua welcomed her son in August last year.

Gospel singer Kambua celebrates cute son on first birthday

Kambua Manundu has witnessed God’s love just like many other famous women in the Bible that she professes. Just like Biblical women like Hannah, Rachel, Sarah and Rebecca before her, the singer has seen God’s grace in her life as she was finally blessed with a baby boy after many years of barrenness.

Her tears and frustrations were turned into singing and joy in 2019 when she announced to the celebration of many that she was pregnant.

She and her husband Jackson Mathu kept their son’s birth a secret until three weeks after he was born. They named him Nathaniel Muhoro.

And a year later, the gospel singer is still giddy about the child and even decided to celebrate him on her Instagram page.

Her message read, “My little slice of heaven turned ONE today! Isn’t God good? Happy birthday my sweet little boy 💙💙💙”

Pastor Mathu, on the other hand, showered his heir with love, ‘My lil champ…I love you Nate,’ read his message. The couple has been through a lot over the close to 8 years that they have been married.

The biggest issue of course was they not having a child of their own for a large portion of their marriage. Kambua has even noted in past interviews that her husband was the rock in her life during that period as she was shamed over her childlessness.

The celebrated singer also attributed the birth of her son – whom she fondly refers to as toto, to her husband’s unwavering support during her lowest moments.

“It’s normal to feel a certain level of disappointment but I’m blessed to have a very strong husband because as much as society blamed me, he carried that burden with me,” she stated.

Lessons we can learn from Kambua’s successful marriage

Kambua Manundu gave birth in the latter part of 2019. The gospel singer has been married to husband Jackson Mathu since 2012.

In those 7 years, the two have had to endure questions about why they were still childless. Now no more; after Kambua’s triumphant boy Nate was born.

What simple lessons can we learn from their marriage?

God must be the bedrock of a successful marriage

Kambua and her pastor husband have always maintained their trust in God despite the relentless speculation about why they were childless for so many years.

Kambua proved this with her constant posts on her social media page encouraging childless women and speaking of a God who was always present and listens.

Till death do us part

In most African cultures, many men would leave their wives, or get second wives if they did not bare them a child within the first few years of marriage. (The caveat is that the man must believe he has no issues with his own fertility!)

But Jackson clearly isn’t that type of man as he stood by/with Kambua for all these years with nary a scandal or complaint from him about his wife.

Like Rachel, Jacob’s husband in the Bible stories, who was childless for many years before the Lord opened her womb; Mathu has seen the goodness of his God.

The two have been a united front all these years, best friends if you please

The Bible speaks about a man and his wife becoming one after matrimony. This couple is a perfect example of that. Jackson and Kambua are best of friends.

Their relationship is a testament that a successful marriage can stay together(even without kids) as long as the couple are friends who love each other.

In this day and age when people share every facet of their lives for the world to see on social media, this couple has resisted this. This has proved to be a stroke of genius as it has been very hard to hear about a scandal involving them.

Older men and younger women can make an awesome pairing

The couple has a nearly 10 year age difference, something that people have attacked the singer for; even calling Jackson an ancestor. Could their age difference be a reason the two are still together?

I think it could be, as men get older they mature(not all!) and get wiser handling the affairs in their lives. Jackson is, in essence, the rock to his wife, a stoic that can navigate his marriage victoriously.

You constantly reminded that I am enough – Kambua emotionally tells hubby

Kambua is one woman who seems to have it all; beauty, brains, a high-class career, a wonderful family and a husband who loves her beyond measure.

The singer recently shared a post where she celebrated her rarely-seen husband, Jackson Mathu. The image that accompanied the caption was taken as she celebrated their son’s belated baby shower.

The post was a recognition of how much her husband meant to her and the role he had played in her life this far. She wrote;

When God gave me you, He knew exactly what I needed. You have loved me, defended, and protected me. You spoke life to me even when curses & insults were piled on me. There’s not a day in our (nearly 8) years of marriage that you made me feel less of a woman for not bearing children. You constantly reminded me that I am your companion, and I am enough. But you also reminded me that God promised to fill our quiver, and I now watch in awe as He has began to fulfill His promise. To many more years Baba Muhoro. Father of my beautiful child(ren)! To many more

Even poet laureate Dennis Itumbi would tear at such a wonderful poem? For those who might not know, Kambua struggled for many years to get a baby. It was only in 2019 that the mother of one announced that she was pregnant after 7 years of marriage.

In a past interview with Kiss 100, she explained that Jackson had been the rock in her life saying,

“One of the things that I’m grateful for is that I met a really strong man and it’s because of him being strong that has helped me even in my ministry and career. That he is not fazed or moved by what people say and for the moments where I have gone through things and felt that ‘okay this has really hurt me’ he has been there to speak life into me and to encourage me. If there is anyone who is not bothered it’s my husband and I am learning, he is teaching me how to do that. How to not care because either way regardless of what you do people will have an opinion it just comes with the territory so yea he is cool.
