Ivy Wangechi

Ivy was killed a day to her birthday and her friends took to social media to write her this beautiful letter below.

Dearest Ivy Wangeci,

I’m so sorry for the systems and failures in our society that allowed this man to exist, the man who hacked your life away.

I’m sorry for all the gossip sites and news outlets calling him your lover, elevating him to a status undeserving of a queen like you

I’m sorry for all the slander, for all the ways people have dragged your name in the dirt. As if there’s a scale somewhere, of acceptable reasons to kill a woman.

To kill anyone. And so they come up with all sorts of stories, to justify the crime. How vile and twisted is this country? Where is the compassion? Where is the empathy?

I cannot even imagine what your family and friends are going through right now. To, first, receive this shocking news followed by the ugly stories.

I want to know about you, your hopes and dreams. I want your story and everything you stood for/hoped for/ dreamed to be what lives on.

I wouldn’t want your name to only be associated with this murderer.
Your friends love you, Ivy. They’ve told us who you were and it breaks my heart further that you won’t be here to build the world you dreamed of. The one you have worked so hard to be a part of and contribute to.
May your memory always be love.
May your memory also be justice.

Below are photos of the burial.

Its with a lot of regret that I want to say that I have learnt of an Ivy who only exists on social media.

That Ivy is not my daughter that must be another Ivy .

Below are messages from Wangechi’s friends

I personally knew Ivy Wangechi and the rumours going around are not true. Ivy worked hard and spent countless hours to earn her money.

She did not need sponsors because she was doing well on her own. Ivy was kind hearted and would not start trouble with anyone.

The Nightingale Retweeted Rodgers Dan AbidhaMy heart aches for   We’ve lost a beautiful, intelligent, hardworking lady None of the allegations surrounding her demise are true! It’s unfortunate that all those boldly peddling these rumors never once interacted with her.

Don’t peddle rumors about . Don’t turn this (clearly cruel) event with *only one* villain around. Don’t weaponize it to justify your hatred of women like her. Don’t share gory photos of her death. Rest well, kind soul.

OBSESSION & DARK DESIRES: MY STATEMENT ON MY CLASSMATE, IVY WANGECI, AT MOI UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, KILLED BY A STALKER

It’s a sad day in our school, losing a classmate, a friend and finalist with just months left for her to complete her degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBCHB).

Just this morning. Moreover, tomorrow (10/04/2019) is her birthday. Whats even sadder, is all the rumours that the bloggers are spreading, and the wrong messages going rounds on social media that are tainting Ivy’s good name.

From Ivy’s closest friends, Ivy had known the person who killed her, a 28 yr old Naftali Njahi Kinuthia, since childhood, and that he has been pestering Ivy to be his girlfriend, since childhood, and Ivy constantly refused.

Ivy had been complaining that He had been stalking her, for a while now.

The stories going rounds that they had dated and that she infected him with HIV/AIDS are just fabrications by people to try and make their stories more interesting for the public to click on their blogs.
