Now, Centum Group group is giving members of the public a chance to own a piece of paradise with their newest development, Swara Ranch.

Centum CEO Dr James Mwoira spoke about the new development saying,

“We have available units that are complete and ready for occupation, and we can also build for you. And we have the construction capability here, that’s why it takes about six months.”

The new residential segment is made up of nine village courts, with each containing 30 three bedroom modern bungalows, with access to the Maiyan resort. There they can enjoy all of the recreational facilities including swimming, tennis, horse riding and more.

Dr Mworia also confirmed that for those who became part of the Swara Ranch family, would have all of their needs met. He said,

“It makes money for you. And when you are coming, you just call and say I’ll be here on these particular dates and you don’t have to worry about, ‘is your unit clean, is your DSTV working?’ You will find it done.

“If you need shopping it will be done, if you need a cook, we can find one, we will also clean it. They will manage it like a hotel room.”

For those interested, Dr. Mworia revealed that they had already sold 31 out of 34 units, however he added that there were more builds planned in phase 2.  “Those with property at the Swara Ranch will also be able to stay at Falcon Heights, another hotel in Nanyuki at no cost to you.”  Dr. Mworia explained,

“What the management does, it they deduct your bills from your revenue. So if you come and spend KES20,000 or KES30,000, that will come off your revenue.

“The idea is that you spend once and then you enjoy it as your asset is working for you. And another thing that is guaranteed is that you will not spend any money on maintenance.”

As for cost, a quarter plot will go for KES5 million, and eighth would cost you KES. 1.75 million, and the three bedroom cottage being sold for KES. 12million.

Reporter banned from attending a press conference at Raila’s home

A reporter from the Star newspaper was shocked yesterday when he was blocked from attending a press conference at the home of Cord leader Raila Odinga in Karen, Nairobi.

A policeman manning the gate informed the reporter that he had firm instructions not to allow anyone from the Star newspaper into the press conference.

“Let me do my job. I am under instructions that you stay out. Please allow other people to get in. You go out,” he said. Some family members were angered by a story published by the Star saying three licensed rifles, one licensed pistol and close to 20,000 bullets were found in the house of Fidel Odinga.

He died on Sunday morning.

FGM escapees return home

643 girls, who escaped Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the district and gathered at one rescue centre here, are today expected to leave camp.

Police Commander for Tarime Special Police Zone, Mr Benedict Mambosasa, has ordered parents to immediately stop ‘cutting’ their girls and failure to adhere to the directive would attract punitive action.

Minister for Labour and Employment, Ms Gaudensia Kabaka is expected to be the guest of honour during the occasion that is scheduled to be witnessed by many antigender- based violence (GBV) activists.

The girls, majority of them hailing from Tarime villages, have camped at Termination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Masanga Centre for more than two months.

Several hundreds of girls have been mutilated in the district during the latest FGM season that was widely conducted in five clans of Kurya tribe in November and December last year.

But, those who sought shelter at TFGM Masanga Centre managed to escape the outdated harmful culture, which exposes girls to severe pain and at times excessive breeding.

The 634 girls camped at the centre with support of several organizations, including the Children’s Dignity Forum (CDF) , a non- governmental organization which donated 40 million shillings to support the initiative, according to the Organization’s Executive Director, Mr Koshuma Mtengeti.

CDF has of recent years helped to enhance the campaign against FGM, child marriages and teenage pregnancies in Tarime and the neighbouring districts of Mara Region. The organization (CDF) enjoys the support of the United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA), a major funder of anti-FGM programmes here.

The Director of the Centre, Sr Germaine Baibika, confirmed yesterday that the girls will start leaving the centre today shortly after the ceremony.
