7 simple yet effective tips for maintaining braids

I can never quite keep my braids on for longer than two weeks, but for those of you who can more power to you sis.

Here’s how you can make them last longer should you choose to:

Keep your scalp moist: Do this at least two to three times a week, using a leave-in conditioner.

Wash braids bi-weekly (This is usually the minimum recommendation)

Reduce up-do’s

Avoid pulling and high manipulation

Redo your edges after 4 to 6 weeks

Don’t wear braids for too long

Protect your hair at night: Wear an extra large silk or satin hair bonnet. While you don’t have to worry about dryness issues if you’re wearing extensions, you can avoid frizz and shortening the life of your braids if you protect them at night.

How to use Apple Cider Vinegar to stop itching from braids

How do you naturally stop an itchy scalp?

I have for the longest time dealt with itchiness owing to constant braiding. A friend advised me to buy Apple Cider Vinegar, as a home remedy to stop the scalp from driving me crazy.

It worked guys, it’s all I ever use.

Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial , anti-inflammatory, and antifungal properties.

For those dealing with hair issues such as itchy scalp or hair breakage, apple cider vinegar might be a great natural remedy to explore.

Here are two different ways you can deal with an itchy scalp:
Rinse the hair BEFORE you install. The girls at the salon won’t do it, so here’s where your DIY skills come into play. Soak the hair braids in a bucket of lukewarm water, an add the vinegar. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse it out. Air dry the braids, and head out to the salon.

Use a spray bottle. If it starts to itch or becomes irritated a few days after braiding, get a spray bottle and put 2 parts water to 1 part apple cider vinegar and spray it on directly on the entire scalp. Let it sit for about an hour and then rinse.

‘I force my wife to go to the kinyozi not the salon’ mean husband brags

Would you let a man dictate your clothes, shade of lipstick, type of perfume and height of your heels? Probably not. But what about the length of your hair?

All the jokes and memes made on National Boyfriends Day

A rather opinionated man made many upset after complaining that he doesn’t like being asked for money by his wife for her beauty needs.

”Every end month I pay rent, school fees and shopping for the house. Any other thing outside that bracket, is her own responsibility. Her money is hers to take care of herself. To add on to that, I don’t walk around with my wife for outings!

He admits that he goes to extremes to ensure that no money goes towards the salon.

I don’t walk around a supermarket with her, what for? I leave 300 bob everyday for her to buy food, if she wants to do other things that’s her bill to pay, not my money.

He is happy with her low maintenance look and has made a pact to continue with this lifestyle.

I go with my wife to the barber shop to shave her hair, because I don’t see why I should give her money for the salon. She shaves her hair and keeps it short, her nails are also short and keep them natural because I won’t pay her salon bill.

I don’t expect a man below my standards to approach me

Lilian Muli is having the biggest celebrity hair transformation of 2019 yet

They say that a woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life, and this may be true for Lilian Muli.

Lilian shared a picture of a freshly shaved head, and visibly lighter looking skin that had alot of her fans excited.

Back in July she somewhat cut her hair into a mohawk, explaining that

“I shaved my locks because they thinned after I had a baby. I will miss them, though,” she said.

The anchor advised all those scared of trying something new to conquer their fears.

“You live once, have fun while you’re at it. Do stuff that makes you feel good. @wangarinick we are Twins now…well at least for a minute,” she wrote.

This time round the hair is completely gone and she is spotting a completely short hair.

Lilian Muli has this year been on a rollercoaster of sorts with her life.

In June this year, she wished her first husband Moses Kanene, well after he posted pictures with his new girlfriend.

In an exclusive interview with Word Is, Muli said she is happy for her ex as they have both moved on and are happy.

“They look good together and I really don’t have anything more to say. We’ve been separated seven years dear. Plus, why should I deny him happiness and I found happiness too? It’s all good.”

She has also been on and off with her second baby daddy Jared, and perhaps cutting off her hair this time round signifies something new in her life.

She has been slamming him on social media calling him a community husband.

The Citizen TV anchor later regretted her comments saying she is not proud of what she posted on social media.

“My recent outburst was my lowest moment, and I am not so proud of it because I had Kenyans speaking about it,” she said in an in an interview with Malkia Africa.

We wish Lilian the best going forward.

Gilgil man kills wife over ‘bob cut’ hairstyle

Residents of Gilgil town woke up to a rude shock after a man killed his wife as his children watched in horror, following a domestic quarrel.

The man is said to have stabbed the wife on the neck and stomach using a kitchen knife following a row over her hairstyle which he didn’t like.

The suspect later turned the knife on himself during the bizarre incident in Site estate, but he was rescued by police and rushed to hospital.

Emotions ran high as police moved in to collect the body of Esther Wambui before rescuing one of the couples children who was covered in blood.

Trouble started after the man questioned the decision by the wife to wear the new hairstyle referred to as ‘Bob-cut’ which he didn’t like.

According to a neighbor Sakina Mohammed, a heated argument ensued between the couple with the man saying that a married woman should not have such a hairstyle.

Sakina, who also doubles as a child activist, said that the man ordered the wife to go back to the salon, a move the deceased refused.

“What followed was a fight as the man attacked the woman trying to shave her but this was met with resistance as neighbors tried to break the door,” she said.

She added that the man went for a kitchen knife and stabbed the wife on the neck and stomach as she pleaded for mercy.

“The woman died holding her one year old daughter who we later rescued covered in blood and we have taken her to a childrens home,” she added.

She noted that after realizing his mistake the suspect used the same knife to stab himself on the lower stomach as members of the public watched in horror.

Gilgil OCPD Emmanuel Opuru confirmed the incident adding that the suspect had been treated and was being held at the police station.

He said that the suspect had a wound on his stomach but doctors had attended to it and he was in stable condition waiting to be charged in court.

“There was an incident on Monday evening where a disagreement between a man and the wife ended tragically and we have opened an inquiry file over the same,” he said.

Opuru said that the body of the woman had been taken to Gilgil sub-county hospital mortuary adding that the suspect would be charged in court with murder.

‘He looked terrified’ Women tell of embarrassing moments when their wigs fell off

Every woman loves looking beautiful with most of them embracing wigs to give them that boost and to make them feel sexy. but not every woman loves wigs.

Most men do not like wigs with many saying they love ‘team natural kaa misitu’ but  not all wigs are bad considering that some meet the standard quality and texture, achana na hizi za river road.

Some women narrated the most embarrassing situations they had to go through after their wigs fell off. Read their stories below

“The evening started out perfectly. We’d gone on a fantastic date. We shared a yummy soul food dinner I assumed he knew it wasn’t all my hair, but I wasn’t sure if he knew I was wearing a wig. I liked him so much that he still made me nervous, so I wasn’t about to bring it up and possibly make the moment awkward.

The few times he’d tried to touch my hair I’d casually dodged him without being too obvious. Then just when we began to have what would have been some of the most amazing s#x I’d ever had, instead the unthinkable happened.

In the heat of the moment, he reached up to squeeze and pull my long strands of “hair” and he yanked so hard my wig slipped right off. He looked stunned and terrified at first as he stared at this big wad of 1B hair in his hands, but then he started to laugh. I was so mortified, I jumped out of bed, ripped the wig from his hands and ran and hid in his bathroom.”

Another says

“I was really late for work, so I boarded a bike to make my journey fast. Suddenly, my wig fell off. I was so embarrassed. The bike man had to stop and help me get it. I just put it in my hand bag. Thank God the weaving I had under was still neat.”

Just when you think you have heard enough another female narrates how meeting an old friend turned out to be her worst nightmare.

“I went for an interview and was waiting for my turn when I saw a long time friend and in the process of hugging, my wig fell off.”

Another woman adds

“I went to the market and was passing in front of meat sellers, something hooked my wig from one of the petty shops and it pulled it off my head and hung it up.”

I attended an event and as I bent to go under the canopy, my wig got stucked and was hanging in the air while people already sitted were staring at me.

All said and done would you wear a wig and if no why wouldn’t you?

Another blasted: ‘Hair has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with beauty –  beauty comes from within, strength & intelligence.’

Others pointed out that Ratajkowski’s comments could be hurtful to young women enduring chemotherapy and radiotherapy which can cause the hair to fall out.

Within hours of sharing the Instagram post, the model appeared to have edited it so that it simply read: ‘So excited to announce that I am the new face of @kerastase_official! Welcome good hair days!’

The beauty giant, which is owned by L’Oréal, also issued an apology via the comments section on in its official Instagram page.

They said they were ‘deeply sorry’ about offending anyone with the Instagram photo, adding: ‘Of course beauty is not defined by your hair, beauty is something more spiritual, beauty is an attitude.

Unbe-WEAVE-able! Women show off their jaw-dropping hairstyles on social media

Emily, an outspoken feminist, recently admitted she thinks it’s important to be controversial.

The London-born star revealed she would rather be criticised for her opinions than not ‘stand for anything’.

Emily explained: ‘I think if you don’t have haters or if you’re not somewhat controversial, then you’re not standing for anything in general and that’s something I think about a lot.

‘So I’d rather be p***ing people off than just everyone liking me.’
