Gwyneth Paltrow on why she split with husband Chris Martin

It’s been nine months she ‘consciously uncoupled’ from husband Chris Martin.

And in a revealing new interview, Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about why she decided to separate from the Coldplay front man.

The 42-year-old actress told Marie Claire: ‘There was nothing dramatic or anything. I had built my life on trying to be all things to all people, and I just couldn’t do it anymore.’

‘I really had the sense that I wasn’t allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else, and I just sort of hit a wall.’

The Iron Man actress remains close to her former beau and also explained how important it is that they maintain a solid friendship.

She revealed: ‘We’ve worked really  hard to get to [this] point. But we’re very, very close, and it’s so nice. I feel like it’s, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have.’

Paltrow and Martin, 37, have two children together, daughter Apple, 10, and son Moses, eight.
