Maina’s breakfast show is mainly a discussion of what couples go through in their marriage life. Most people call in to share their experience in marriages.

Maina mentioned a prior interview in which flamboyant businessman Chris Kirubi termed marriage as enslavement.

“CK said marriage is a jail. I’m a free bird. I need to move. I need to wake up and decide I’m going to Dar-es-salaam tomorrow, no questions. I don’t know how to ask for permission to go somewhere. I’m the embassy myself,” he said.

In one of his conversations on his breakfast show, Maina and King’ang’i were speaking about how marriage ends up getting boring to a point of looking at each other like siblings; Maina responded by telling Mwalimu King’ang’i

“Never ever, so that I end up staying with someone who is like my sister? The things women go through just to look good for a man only for him to say he sees you like a sister!”

According to him, seeing how selfish men are…Marriage remains a meaningless word in his dictionary.

Maina went on to say;

“I find it crazy. men are the most selfish people in the world. Why didn’t they say it from the word go that such things happen?. They should so that someone can know what they are getting themselves into.”

He attended Westlands Primary before joining Laiser Hill academy.

He says making a difference for people and sometimes bringing a smile on people is quite something he has learnt in life.

Listen as Kenya men confess leaving their matrimonial homes for MWK’s because of their wives

Maina Kageni’s morning conversation started on a high note today with men confessing why they would leave their women for their Mpango Wa Kando’s and never return back to their matrimonial home.

Well, today Maina’s topic was based on a woman he met during the weekend whose husband disappeared and never returned, leaving his children with the wife and went to his MWK, forgetting about her and he  does not even pick her calls.

Mwalimu on the other hand said that no matter how long he goes away from his home, he will still come back and women should be patient, but Maina didn’t buy that.

He was mad and had this question, “Guys! What can make you forget the woman you walked down the isle with and your children for another woman? He also asked the MWK’s to tell him what they give to these married men in that they even forget their first wives.

The discussion had mixed reactions as always. One man said,”For a man to disappear from his home, there must be something she did to him that even on national radio, you can’t say it. Its better you leave than committing murder and end up in prison rather be at peace and free somewhere!”

Another male caller confessed to have left his wife 4 years ago. He told Maina, “you need to understand that women make men go away,  you know these women are the ones who make us go and another one welcomes us in. Connect that Maina. The kids are mine and I do not refute that. I have been gone for four years, I do everything for the children. She should not wait for me but I will go back maybe some days. These women are hell. I spoke to her 2 years ago and when I want to help my children, I just go there without her notice.

Ahead of his commemoration, His daughter Grace Msalame took to social media to pay tribute to her legendary father who dominated Kenya’s airwaves per-independence.

“Can’t believe it’ll be 10 years next month since you left us… I’m still blown away by all that you accomplished while you were here on Earth & understand even more now, why you were so hard on us growing up, then we didn’t get it but today I remember everything you taught us…” she wrote on Instagram.

Msalame added that her dad Tony Msalame left huge shoes to fill.

“…From the value of hard work & learning the delicate balance of your work putting you in the spotlight but maintaining your privacy oh! how you would constantly remind us of this since we were kids. You left such huge shoes to fill! which can be daunting… but what gives me peace is knowing that only in our Authenticity can we impact in any way! And I’m now passing that on to my kids,” she went on.

‘He was like Akuku Danger’ – Morgan Heritage on fathers multiple baby mama’s

Peetah and Gramps joined Maina Kageni in studio Tuesday to talk more about their Kenyan concert.

They have a big show this weekend whose concept they explained

It’s all about the youths. last year when we arrived in Kenya we had a few shows everywhere we went we saw the same thing among the youth: lack of preparing youth to be leaders, anything that helps the future of mankind, so we thought we need to do something that creates awareness. What we have realised is that youth in the ghetto look up to the artistes, to celebrities.

‘We face pressure from friends wearing Sh80,000 wigs’, confesses woman

They also opened up about their father, who has fathered almost 30 children with several baby mamas.

Maina Kageni was curious about this fact, and the duo did not hold back saying

‘my father was dangerous’

Maina Kageni prompted another response equating their father to Akuku Danger to which they responded

‘I like that, yeah like Akuku Danger. may his soul rest in peace but it’s okay

May his soul rest in peace, he was a great man, a great man’ they emphasized.

‘Don’t bury me in Muranga!’ Policeman pens chilling suicide post

They are part of singer Denroy “Daddy” Morgan’s 30 children.

Back in 2005 the legendary musician spoke about his children in an interview with Jamaican Observer.

“There are more with talent, but I never force anything on them. They make a choice and I support it, my greatest achievement is seeing my children… making music that inspires people in their daily lives.”

Jemere jetteed into Kenya to take part in the Tomorrow’s Leader Festival alongside such stars as Morgan Heritage, Jose Chameleon, StoneBwoy, Alaine, Yemi Alade, Diamond Platnumz, Wyre Da Love Child, Naiboi, Rophan and many more.

You have probably heard the phrase mwanamke ni tabia sura hata mbuzi anayo. This  applies mostly for Kenyan women who have been termed disrespectful.

Maina Kageni could not wrap his head around the fact that despite some men being respected in the whole country, having the president on speed dial, their wives belittle them to an extent of them getting stressed.

Here is what Classic 105’s fans had to say

“When growing up I kept hearing my mother refer to my dad as useless and not because she was mean but because he would dedicate himself to other so much and only give us leftovers.

Every time he came home he was always tired ,not even wanting to talk to my mother but with us there is no smile no emotion nothing.

But when talking to someone else you would see his excitement, he was always giggling, yet he had no interest in the family.”

She continues

“My mum has been fending for him since he retired 20 years ago,he does not even want to get involved in a business, I do not know what happened to Kenyan men .”

Another says

“I am a director at a real estate company, I am well respected and people even come telling me that they wish they had a marriage like mine, if only they knew.

I decided I will not pay school transport for my kids because I want to spend more time with my kids because when I get home I have to keep quiet because anything I say is used against me later

If  I was given a chance to get married I would not marry this lady, she was a queen when she started dating but she changed so much .”

‘Deep down, I know I am totally and completely innocent over the allegations leveled against me’ Jowie states in his affidavit

He adds

“I looked forward to the day we would love a life together, when you hear people talking about women with sponsors there are times I wish someone can just katia her so that we can share the stress.

Whenever she tells me that anapitia kwa ofisi I make sure that I get something to do outside the office just so that she finds me absent.

I wish you knew whom I am so that you can understand what I mean, this lady peels you like an onion, sometimes I just go to the bathroom and look at the mirror I don’t see anything, she takes everything out of you.”

“First people think that we got money from TPF, but we actually went home with experience. We had to hustle like any other artiste to create our foundation,” they said, “The first time to heard our music played on radio, we were in church. Imagine we could not believe that our song was already on radio? Then when we released our next single, Baadaye. This time we got people tweeting about the song and then Maina Kageni, heard it and he started playing it at Classic 105. I mean it has been hard but we thank God we are somewhere now,” they added.

They are working on an album to be release in August.

“We have never broken up, but we have been quietly working on our album which we are releasing in August.

We took a break from music but now we are back.”

What have they learnt since they last dropped a song?

Women are known to be insecure but in some instances it goes to the extreme. Most of their insecurities stem from beautiful house helps.

House managers are supposed to be like family but more and more women are insecure due to instances where house managers took husband saway from the lady of the house.

Classic 105 presenter Maina Kageni was shocked when someone confided in him that she had not talked to her house manager for the eight years she has worked for them.

Maina gave his listeners a chance to give their reasons on why they are paranoid, most of the callers were women who said that women are their worst enemies. Adding that if they gave their domestic workers a chance they would plot and run away with their husbands.

The next caller was a man and he could not understand how he is not supposed to talk to his house manager yet he is the one paying her. One caller advised Maina that if he wanted an easy life he would rather keep off from house helps and if not possible just hire a house boy.

Another caller left listeners in stitches after saying this:

‘I take a lot of comfort from how John Macharia lived his life’, Maina Kageni (audio)

John Macharia will be buried today in  Gatanga constituency, Murang’a county.

The late John  Macharia, son of Royal Media Services chairman and founder SK Macharia  passed away last week on Friday at the age of 38 years,  after he sustained fatal injuries along the Southern bypass in a grisly accident.

He passed away at Karen hospital.

He was the Executive Director at Harbour Capital and the director and founder of Triple-A Finance and Direct Line Assurance.

The late John Macharia is related to Classic 105 FM presenter Maina Kageni, who’s his cousin.

Maina took it to social media to pay tribute  to his cousin, revealing it was John who helped him grow to the man he is today.

New disturbing details emerge about SK Macharia’s son John Macharia -multiBILLION fraud scandal revisited

He wrote;

John Macharia

“R.I.P John Macharia…. you were a tough authority to us growing up!!! You demanded discipline, you demanded that we (especially Karanja and I) take responsibility for our daring actions like stealing Mum’s car to go clubbing!!

You made it clear that you were The Don, and, my goodness, woe unto us any time we disobeyed you!!!

But you taught us some life lessons that remain with me today… and when we were all done with the teenage rampage, you were the first person to show us the way to growing up mentally…

You had a great business mind and always asked me THAT question – “are you better financially now than you were at this time last year?”

You leave a wonderful son, a mother who doted on you, a father who RESPECTED you, a brother who obeyed and always looked up to you, two sisters who simply adored you and a wider family…

Personally, mine is to thank you for the lessons, the craziness growing up, the advice, the mentorship, the friendship and for always looking out for us… Mum, Ciku, Muturi and I will miss you very much too….. but we’re grateful that you were in our lives… Rest well….. Shalom.”

Well, the burial is taking place today in a low key event and Maina announced on air that he will be attending the funeral.

During the breakfast show he said;

“I am going to John Macharia’s funeral, he is being buried in Murang’a county.

I owe this man because he lived his life so well so it is a bit of a celebration. I take a lot of comfort from how he lived his life.

You know this life you need to live to the fullest with a big spoon if you can. Maisha ni mafupi.”

Maina Kageni reveals who he would marry between Huddah and Vera Sidika (Audio)

We all know Maina Kageni is a foodie, who also enjoys eating alongside his dabo dabo. So it’s expected that he would want a woman who can cook right? Wrong!!!

Wanatosha mboga, according to his the Classic 105 presenter.

Well, today during the morning conversation Maina raised this topic of why men cannot marry women who do not know how to cook.

Julie Gichuru yesterday posted that her father thought she would never get married because she never knew how to cook.

She wrote on her instagram page;

“My father was reading the newspaper but stopped to contribute to a debate I was having with my mother.

He interjected firmly, “But Julie, you must learn how to cook!” He was perturbed but I could tell it came from a place of love. So here’s the low down. I was a teenager & I had pointedly refused to learn how to cook.

As the only daughter in the family it was obvious & apparently a source of social embarrassment. Indeed, in an African – Asian home this was unheard of, girls should know their place & the kitchen was part of that. But I was adamant, I was disinterested in the art of cooking..

Well, the discussion was lit and had mixed reactions from the listeners.

Mwalimu King’ang’i’s view was that he cannot marry a woman who can’t cook adding that she should not be just a cook but a good cook, Si ‘kupika mashakura’.

Maina responded by reminding him that a man can eat out or better yet hire a chef. After all who will marry these girls studying catering?

It was during this time that Kingangi said, ‘Taftieni Maina Kageni bibi Mluhya specifically, Unajua shida yako ukianza kufikiria bibi unafikiria Vera na Huddah.”

Then Maina said, “Me it’s either Huddah or Vera,

He added that he has eaten out for more than 10 years and doesn’t know the price of a packet of unga.
