Another female politician who has spoken out about not being able to conceive was former coast politician Joyce Lay.

The former Taita Taveta MP opened up about her painful journey to motherhood saying

During a debate on the In-Vitro Fertilization Bill, Ms Lay gave an emotional speech on the frustrations she went through when she had to use a surrogate mother to give birth to her only child.

“I wasn’t born barren. I was a young mother at the age of nineteen. I have been through the pain of giving birth; it is only that I lost my son when he was two years old. This time, it is only that I had to be assisted so that I can get another child,” she said.

‘My son had to undergo 17 surgeries and 300 face stitches’ Tom Mboya

Former K24 journalist Tom Mboya has opened up on fatherhood and the challenges he has gone though bringing up his six kids.

Mboya, who is almost in his 50’s, says that the journey has had its fair share of challenges, but it’s been a worthy ride.

The journey had its fair share of struggles at the beginning. Being a father intimidated me but with time I settled down after realizing I had to play the role of mother and father.

We were parents when young so we did not understand the dynamics of marriage yet.

I decided to work on myself first and right now my kids are in campus and I feel so proud that I did it all alone.

‘Alcohol was going to kill me, pancreatitis saved me’ – Journalist Tom Mboya

Mboya goes on to narrate a horrifying incident that left his son seriously injured and how it shocked him.

My son had at the time disagreed with his friends so they decided to ‘revenge’ and going by the injuries sustained it is obvious that their aim was to kill him.

For some reasons he did not die. He lived to tell the story. He also underwent 17 procedures on the jaw and 300 stitches on the face.

I looked at my son in that state and felt weak. He was in a bad state and it was a very unpleasant image. The mother was however very disturbed.

I looked my son in the eyes and told him he was gonna be OK and he is OK

It is understood that the father of the child previously had his hair styled in dreadlocks, and was unveiling his new trim haircut to his son for the first time when the funny incident occurred.

Taken by a woman, most likely the mother or a relative of the child, the clip then pans over to the side of the room.

As the father of the child enters, the baby can be seen turning his head to look at him.

The man can be heard saying ‘hi’ as the adorable little boy stares up at him.

And although the baby might have initially been looking forward to seeing his father, things quickly changed.

Locking eyes on his dad, the adorable little boy realizes that his dad no longer has dreadlocks.

Instead, he is sporting a short, tight haircut.

And when the child realizes that his father has a new look, he isn’t happy about it.

The tiny baby turns his head back toward the camera and lets out a sigh before he holds his head and begins crying.

He then begins sobbing uncontrollably, before turning around to take another look at his dad’s new hairdo.
