Singer Avril says Kenyans show love to their artistes when they die.
Avril happened to release a song ‘Danger’ but in a day, the song had less than 1k likes.
Avril made a comeback to the music industry, with a new song ‘Danger’ after missing for close to a year.
However, Kenyans didn’t support her as expected because in 8 hrs the song had only 796 views on YouTube despite having over 1.8 million followers on Instagram and over 100k subscribers on YouTube.
Kenyan fashion designer, and stylist Nimrod Nick asked fans to support Avril.
“…you all need to give Avril her flowers bwana, you can’t just do Avril like that. She has a new song featuring Brandy Maina. Go check it out and support a girl bana. She gave you all hit songs kitambo.”
“Support her, she is the creme de la creme of our music industry. I know Avril will be back on her feet soon enough… I feel that motherhood came along and overwhelmed her because it is a whole job on its own. Please stream her music and support her”
Avril responded that her songs will trend after her death because that is the only way and time Kenyans support their artists.
She wrote; “Don’t worry, when I die, the songs I’ve done over time will trend at least for a while. Maybe even get love. Never worry. Thank you for the post, the mockery and the love.”
Cyber-bullying, as described by Wikipedia, is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. Cyber-bullying and cyber-harassment are also known as online bullying. It has become increasingly common, especially among teenagers, as the digital sphere has expanded and technology has advanced.
With the growth and penetration of social media especially in Kenya, this phenomenon has also caught on with a recent report indicating that Kenyans are among the worst of cyber-bullies in Africa.
Some of the people in this country that have faced the worst of it is the stars and celebrities who grace our screens. And that makes sense as they are well-followed online and are instantly recognisable.
Below is a list of celebs who have faced cyber-bullying in Kenya and the things they have gone through.
Pierra Makena
Pierra faced attacks on her person about her weight a couple of years ago after she gave birth to her daughter, Rica Pokot. Pierra spoke about the abuse and explained to the masses that a woman’s body goes through a lot of transformation after childbearing and it only takes a courageous woman to accept the changes.

Lynda Nyangweso
On May 2013, Lynda Nyangweso, found herself facing bullies after a photo of her was posted on Twitter. That was enough for some users to attack over her weight.
Lynda Nyangweso
Linda, however, did not allow the bullies to get to her down and responded with a classy comeback, “omg woke up this morning to realize people have discovered my secret: I’M FAT.”
Carol Odero
Carol who is one of Kenya’s most respected fashion watchers came under fire from Kenyans after criticising Meghan Markle’s dress and make up saying it came short of her expectations.
Carol Odero
Kenyans called her out telling her that her makeup and code of dressing is what needed an upgrade. They even suggested that she might be hiding something underneath her makeup.
Kambua
Before she gave birth, the gospel singer had been attacked and trolled online for her lack of bearing a child. Her response was always fierce reminding her haters that it is not good to judge someone since you do not know what they are going through.
Also Kambua was attacked for marrying a man that some considered too old for her.
Nyota Ndogo
Nyota came under the kosh after her images from her wedding came to light, with some Kenyans attacking her for poor-makeup.

Nyota responded by saying that her photographer had used poor lighting for the function.
Adelle Onyango
In October 2014, Adelle had a horrible interaction with a Facebook user who compared the presenter to a monkey. The bully posted a photoshopped meme with an insulting comparison of a monkey next to Adelle.
Adelle Onyango
Adelle responded by saying, “I don’t describe to your definition of beauty or perfection. How sad must your life be to go around pointing out at what people have to change about themselves? I pray that you get over whatever insecurities your life is drenched in and seek life, not perfection. I like my teeth just fine.”
Dk Kwenye Beat
The gospel musician who is above average in terms of size has always been a target with critics attacking him for his weight.

Meme’s and jokes were also made to get the message to him.
Avril In April 2015, the singer was attacked after she posted an image of herself without any make-up that revealed a lot of acne on her face.

Some Kenyans proceeded to call her ugly also creating memes with insults about her acne and pimples to troll her. Later on after she was made the Oriflame brand ambassador(a beauty company), Avril addressed her haters saying,
“They laughed at me about 4 months ago. Ridiculed me to a point I didn’t even understand what for. Made memes and called me ugly. But guess what, my acne scars are slowly fading away! My forehead doesn’t have even one pimple yet that was the heaviest affected bit on my face. No condition is permanent. Always remember that. Thank you, Oriflame for helping me understands my skin. Give me another 4 months and my skin will be completely healed.”
Jimmy Gait
Jimmy Gait has spoken severally about the bullying he has experienced over the years, with the gospel musician even admitting that he had even gotten depressed.

During one of this times, he was attacked after releasing a mash up of ‘Hello’ by Adelle, which left many Kenyans with more questions than answers.
The bullying caused him to cry on air during a live Tv interview on The Trend.
Khaligraph Jones
The real O.G as he calls himself has been accused with the unsubstantiated claim that he bleached his skin. The completely unfounded claims have been denied severally by the musician who says that the bullying doesn’t affect him as he doesn’t care.

Kobi Kihara
Her ordeal started in August 2018 after Kenyans noted that she might have been plagiarising content.
Kobi, who was in the United States at the time to pursue a design course, was mocked after an observant Kenyan noted that a photo of a plate of salad she had claimed to have prepared was actually from getting from the internet.
Kobi Kihara
What ensued was a viral #KobiKiharaChallenge and #KobiWithAnEye, which she had used when sharing photos on Instagram.
While her situation might have been self-induced, the reaction she suffered was unprecedented. The cyberbullying Kobi endured was so much she ended up deactivating all her social media accounts.
Janet Mbugua
In October 2015 the former Citizen TV anchor Janet Mbugua was attacked by some who felt that she wasn’t supposed to be on air with her baby bump.
Janet Mbugua
But Janet isn’t a shrinking violet and responded by telling her trolls, “People like you are a shame to society. I’m proud of my pregnancy as are many other women. Your ignorance is wanting”.
Sometimes for one to appreciate the beauty of a thing, one must see how life can look without that thing.
Love is one of those things of those beautiful forces that most sane people desire and want in their lives but which isn’t always the case.
Although we tend to follow the highs of celeb love on this site, the opposite also happens with many of these well-known individuals seeing love go sour in their own lives and have undergone break-ups .
Love broken
The list below looks at celebs who have had some very public engagements but did not end walking down the aisle.
1. Anerlisa Muigai and Stephen Muigai
Anerlisa had dated Stephen Kungu for 5 years before he proposed in January last year. But things would go awry barely 6 months later when she announced their breakup on her social media. She said:
“Ladies I don’t know why you stick to relationships you well know are not healthy. Have you ever been to a relationship where you feel you are not growing mentally, you feel like somebody is dictating your life? You feel you are mentally abused and demeaned every day? Well, that’s part of what I am talking about. Know when it’s time to walk away.”

2. Hey Z and Mercy Njoki
Popular gospel artiste Daniel Ng’ang’a better known as Hey-Z Da Brand proposed to his girlfriend Mercy Njoki in Malindi. Hey-Z asked the mother of his son to marry him on New Year’s eve when they were taking a swim at Villa Doris Resort in Malindi.
But Mercy had eyes for another man and she dumped his ass like a hot potato, getting together with another man named Bob.

3. Sheila Mwanyigha and Simon Rushton
This one was really messed up. The singer was waxing lyrical about Simon and even planned for a wedding. He had even bought her an engagement ring—16-rubies surrounding a single diamond set on platinum.
The ring was said to be an antique that has been passed down from one generation to the other and was worth a lifetime. But things went awry as the singer-cum radio presenter parted ways with her fiance Simon Rushton in 2005 on the eve of their wedding.

4. Avril and Leslie Mugadza
Though she’s single now, beautiful singer and actress Avril was once engaged to wealthy South African businessman by the name Leslie Mugadza aka Muga.

The two broke up after a 3-year engagement, news that Avril confirmed back in July 2016 after swirling rumors that the two were not walking down the aisle, and persistent denial by the lovebirds to officially confirm the breakup.

5. Sophia Wanuna and Sasha Mutai
Sophia and Sasha held a traditional wedding last year that was highly publicized on social media. They had been exchanging PDAs on their various social media pages but this suddenly stopped.

According to unnamed sources, the cause of the break-up was the unrealistic demands that she placed on him. It was claimed that she even asked him to pay a monthly rent of 100,000 shillings!

The story doing the rounds was that she was his wife but the old man dumped her as quickly as you can sneeze. On to the next one was the old man’s motto.

Love can be fleeting and these broken relationships show that.
Last week Eric Omondi and Avril Nyambura were involved in a back and forth that raised temperatures in the entertainment industry between comedians and musicians.
It all started when Eric shared a post warning Kenyan musicians that comedians were now taking the steering wheel in the entertainment scene because his fake wedding video to Bandbeca member Carol had dominated the streaming charts.
Avril responded to the post with a dig at Eric, saying she was fine with him trending as long as he told different jokes and didn’t stick to the same ones. “So long as you don’t keep saying the same jokes we are okay with you trending,” she wrote.
Eric hit back with a nasty jibe, taking a screenshot of her comment, hilariously labeling Avril as a former musician, “Now who is this? I was talking to musicians, not former musicians,” he replied.
In her decade-plus career in the scene, the singer has always been consistent, delivering hit after hit and staying relevant (the hardest part for most). But she recently revealed that she contemplated quitting the industry after the death of her father.
She told this to Adelle Onyango on her podcast, Legally Clueless, saying:
Music is a jealous lover, or the entertainment industry is jealous. I have wanted so many times to say you know what, I am ending this, and in so many ways, I feel I am in that space. The thoughts to call it quits, had crossed her mind, not once, not twice, but numerous times.

She went on to explain the large extent to which her father’s heart condition and subsequent death had made her question herself and her decisions much more.
“My dad questioned a lot while he was sick and it made us question a lot. I got into that zombie state of questioning so much. You never know what life is going to be but you know there is an end to it. My life started becoming a bit more conscious and awakened, from the time my dad passed on.”

She then explained how her dad’s health had deteriorated so fast for the family.
” It started with a heart attack. Then things cooled down, only for the tides to return but this time, striking a little bit harder. He just had a heart attack and we thought he was going to be okay, then all of a sudden, he was not okay and he had a second heart attack, which was a bit more severe.”

And her dad would pass on after the second heart attack barely 50 years of age.
“He wasn’t old as he had just clocked 50 years and he had a full life ahead of him.”
But since then her management and support team has done a swell job of keeping her on the right track.
Musician Avril Nyambura is an attractive woman. The mother of one isn’t afraid to show off her curvy figure and has been doing so the past few years after her job as a brand ambassador superseded (the truth must be said) her singing career.
The lady who used to rock us with her sultry voice has not been as active as she was back in the day; when she would release hit after hit.
But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t been delivering hits in the looks department, in that area she is proving that some women do look better as they get older.
Yesterday, the “Chokoza” singer chokozad people with one of the videos that she shared on her social media page. The light-skinned lady stunned fans after she paraded her curves, mesmerising many of her followers.
Her attitude reminds me of popular actress Sandra Dacha aka Silprosa. The mother of one might be big-borned but that hasn’t stopped her from showing off what her mama gave her.
She has been an example of what a positive body image can do for one’s self-confidence and self-esteem, proving the old Bible saying, “As a man thinketh, so is he”.
Avril Nyambura is now 34 years old. And who do you think celebrated her birthday yesterday? Her fans and family of course!
And who is Avril’s biggest fan at the moment? A certain lanky gospel producer called Jibril Blessing. Jibril has been heavily linked this year as being the baby-daddy to Avril’s 2-year-old baby boy.

The two have refused to address the issue but have thrown hints on several occasions that they might have a deeper bond than just friends. I digress.
J Blessing’s birthday message was a bit of a disappointment to me as he decided to post a video of an ad for a phone company that Avril had been featured in. But ain’t that love? Helping promote your friend’s biashara!
The singer with J Blessing
Just a few weeks ago Avril herself had posted a birthday message to him and her message had much more flavour. She had written, “Happy Birthday ❤️. Thanking God for you ❤️❤️❤️”
The singer with J Blessing
And what was Avril herself doing on her birthday? The singer who is now known more for her brand ambassadorship than for her music decided to usher in her 34th with sultry images of herself.
Her birthday caption read:
My morning be like cake cake and more cake #Dirty30Something #34LooksGoodOnMe. I am indeed overwhelmed by the love. Thank you so much for the wishes fam!! In these uncertain times please be your brother’s/sister’s keeper #MyBirthdayWish .. Oh and Happy Labor Day.

Avril Nyambura has started making her Instagram page the place to visit, the last couple of months. The mother of one who hasn’t really been that relevant musically for the past few years (yes, I said it!) is now trending on social media for her interesting posts.
The singer in a wedding dress
Miss Nyambura recently spoke about how much she loved her body. Her message on her Instagram page detailed how she was happy with her post-pregnancy body.
The female singer was all about self-love and body positivity in her post, all ideals I agree with. Her post is below;
One year and a few months postpartum and I don’t have a flat tummy. Honestly don’t care if I do get one. #SuckInForTheGram?? 😆😆 .. I work out to clear my head, get my energy up to conquer so much more. Side note, funny how a pair of shoes can change your entire mood 😁 .. 🍷 perhaps? Every day is a celebration 💃 .. trying out these babies from

Her fans all supported her stance and encouraged her with many telling her that she owed no one a flat tummy. Some of their comments are below;

It is interesting to note that her commentary on flat tummies comes so soon after Tanasha Donna showed off her flat board tummy last week. Don’t forget Miss Donna gave birth earlier this month.
