Eric Wainaina is one of the most accomplished musicians in Kenya. The man has made a mark for himself in the industry and if there was a Kenyan version of a music Mt. Rushmore, he most likely would be on it.

While his career was at a zenith, his marriage was rocked by a cheating scandal that culminated with him having a child with former Tusker Project Fame contestant Valerie Kimani, who is now 10 years old.

That his marriage survived was a testament to his wife Sheba wanting to keep it together as she forgave his indiscretion despite immense public scorn for her husband at the time.

The famous artiste recently spoke to Churchill Ndambuki and told him that he wouldn’t recommend anyone to sire children out of marriage.

The singer said that the first challenge was how they would negotiate that particular situation. “When that whole issue was a wound, my mother told me, “You have to let Sheba lead in this situation.’ she is an amazing human who is just and she has stood by me.”

Here are ten things you didn’t know about Eric Wainaina

But time has passed and Valerie is now married with a husband and a daughter with her new husband;

“Now we are in a place where he is a big boy and the mother recently got married, and they have a daughter of their own. So the question now is, how will he refer to me because he calls Valerie’s husband dad?

Eric was saddened by the fact that Valerie’s great artistry had been overshadowed by the scandal and that is all people remember her for.

“The problem is that women always have the raw of this and their career gets even clouded by those kinds of things. A singer who 10 years ago was involved in a situation that was unpleasant.

He finished off by stating that the situation was a tough one that he would recommend to others.

“It’s about genuine love and concern on how my son will fit in this family. How my daughters will relate to him and his mother. We are in a good place but it was not an easy journey. I don’t recommend it to anyone.”
