Akothee enjoys using Jiko compared to gas as other musicians do.
Esther Akoth commonly known as Akothee was born and raised at the Lakeside city of Kisumu.
She is a musician and a business woman who is based in Mombasa and has won the Best Female East Africa AFRIMA Award 2016.
Famously known for her hit songs like yuko moyoni among others, Akothee is a proud mother of five children whom she protects so much. At the age of 14, she was already married and had to go back to school at 24 to finish her studies. She finished her high school in 2004 when she was already a mother of three and scored a mean grade of a C+. Unfortunately, she was kicked out of her first marriage since she was supposedly boring, too hardheaded and unromantic.
The single mother enjoys most of her time cooking using jiko unlike many people who say they cannot use jiko, yet they were brought up using three stones. Akothee enjoys the process of “kuweka makaa na kupepeta jiko” as she says on facebook posting pictures of her dressed like a cook in the kitchen. She adds that gas is for emergency and for cooking light food and that she uses jiko for food that need more than fifteen minutes.
