Maina explains how M-pox can be the next pandemic

This call comes a year after the WHO declared Covid-19 was over as a global pandemic.

Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King'ang'i informed their listeners about the ongoing M-pox outbreak during the morning show.

“The M-pox reported in Kenya was caused by a deadly strain previously only seen in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to test results,” Maina said. “So whether we like it or not, we need to prepare for the next pandemic.”

It is reported that two major institutions have urged researchers and governments to prepare for the next pandemic.

This call comes a year after the WHO declared Covid-19 was over as a global emergency. The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed about seven million lives, and experts believe it is inevitable that another pandemic will occur in the future.

King'ang'i added, “Some people haven’t even received their vaccinations. Our problem is exaggeration!”

“Do we understand the danger we are in? If you are a doctor, please call in and explain to Kenyans the importance of preparation,” he said.

Below are some comments from listeners:

Amazing Grace: “This thing was created by the new world order to depopulate the world. Why did it have to start in China, the world’s most populous nation?”

Jennifer Kanyiri: “Protection is better than being sorry. We’ll take measures as Kenyans to protect ourselves and defeat the pandemic like we did with Covid. May God help us avoid another lockdown, as it can hurt many people.”

GeneralDrew: “Maina, this monkeypox is like any other disease, similar to smallpox. It has come and it will go. Ebola came and went, Corona came and is now history, so there’s nothing to worry about.”

Paul Karua: “Africans are the most resilient people in the world. We will overcome it. Even Ebola tried and failed. We’ll just apply Aloe Vera and Rosemary and we’ll be fine.”
