During the morning conversation, Maina and King'ang'i discussed why women stay in toxic relationships.
This was prompted by a video that went viral over the weekend of a man behind the camera, DJ Brownskin, recording his wife Sharon Njeri, as she drank a harmful concoction that later saw her end up in hospital.
Mwalimu King'ang'i stated that the video was disturbing and questioned why a man would record his wife drinking poison.
"That video is very disturbing, kwa nini ailirecord bibi yake akikunywa sumu," Mwalimu King'ang'i wondered.
Maina wondered why women kept on threatening their husbands and alluded to the story of the boy who cried wolf which was once documented in one of the Kenyan primary school textbooks.
"Men, why do you keep on threatening your wife with things? Do you remember of the story of a boy who cried wolf," Maina said.
Maina then asked the ladies why they continue to stay in toxic relationships.
"Ladies why do you keep threatening to self-harm and why do you stay in relationships if they are that toxic?"
He also asked listeners if they had watched the video and the thoughts they had when watching it.
"When you saw the video what went through your mind?" Maina asked.
A caller said that he could not finish watching the video due to its sensitive nature.
Caller: I couldn't even finish watching it
Maina was alarmed by the possibility that the woman could have made repeated threats to take her own life.
"Maybe she had threatened a couple of times," Maina said.
The same caller stated that it does not justify recording the video and not intervening to prevent her from drinking the poison.
Worse, he did it in front of their children and housekeeper claiming that the man lacks intelligence.
Caller: No matter what, in front of the kids and house manger, that man lacks brains sorry to say.
Check out what people had to say on social media:
Mossy wa Kanyiri The woman may be a drama queen and very melodramatic, but watching her die while recording the video is being cold and heartless. His children will never forgive him for not saving their mother. No matter what, save a life
Patience Wanjiru Waiting for someone to say it's cause of the kids and all that and society pressure. Because You can move out and Co parent plus the damage that the child has gone through is something that will never be reversed
Jeremiah Gichaui I strongly feel that must have hurt the so badly & she have died with a or secrets we will never know for which dj wanted her dead at all cost. It's clear he enjoyed the whole ordeal
Baba T Women are so dramatic sometimes, I know men can be a handful but man you haven’t met women hapa nje bwana
Mossy wa Kanyiri I couldn't finish watching the whole video particularly when i heard children talking. These was their mother and their first love. The DJ may have won the legal battle but the sword of Damocles will always be hanging over his head.\
Alice Kerubo Wana wake wanapitia mengi ndani ya izi ndoa wakijaribu kusave marriage hadi wana jisahao wanasaho wako na watoto wakuangalia utakufa ukisave hiyo ndoa akuna na mwingine ataletwa jiangalieni.
