American basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is in mourning after the death of his sister, Classic105.com has learnt. The 47-year old’s sister, Ayesha Harrison-Jex, passed away on Thursday, October 24, three years after being diagnosed with cancer. Harrison-Jex was only 40 when she passed on.
This sad information was revealed by O’Neal’s colleagues in the popular show, Inside the NBA. The colleagues revealed this information while trying to explain the athlete’s absence from one of the episodes. Ernie Johnson one of the show’s hosts said,
‘We have to tell you why you’re not seeing Shaquille O’Neal here on the set tonight. Basically, the ‘Big Fella,’ who I’ve described as “the biggest kid in the world,” his heart is breaking tonight. He said his world revolves around his brother and two sisters. And he lost one of his sisters this morning,” he added.
“Big Fella, you hang in there.”

Johnson added that Ayesha had ‘died too young’ following a fight against cancer over the past three years. Reports from People Magazine, indicate that the late great’s sister will be buried next to O’Neal’s stepfather, Sgt. Phillip Harrison.
O’Neal, who is currently with his family in Orlando Florida, took to Twitter to thank his colleagues for the support shown during the difficult time. “Thanks for the condolences and the love. If I had older brothers, it would be you three. Love y’all and love you more Candice,” he said.
