In a move that will not shock most Kenyans, musician Kevin Bahati has come out to drop the mother of all “bombshells”. The father of 4 has declared that he has left the gospel industry for the “worldly” path of secular music.
The singer divulged this information when he was interviewed by MC Jessy, saying that he would be now doing love songs;
“The gospel ni Christ and I have Christ in my heart and believe in God and God is the reason I’m at the top, I cannot leave Christ, that’s the most important, it’s not the gospel industry. The Gospel Industry is rotten…but that’s a story for another day.
The artiste went on to explain that he had prayed before he released the latest songs, saying,
“I prayed before I wrote Wanani, Missing You,nili-consult God sana. I was fought a lot in the gospel industry and I knew I was not doing the gospel for the people. So when I’m doing a gospel song I will do it for God not for the industry.”
But he went on to stress that he wasn’t leaving Christ but leaving the gospel industry, “I just separated myself from the gospel industry for a while but I’m in Christ and the lord is my personal saviour,” said Bahati.
Thank God that the “Mama” singer has finally stated his stand officially because everyone with two brain cells could tell that his music had veered from its core Christian message eons ago.
The Wanani hit-maker has been working with lots of Secular artistes; among them, Boondocks Gang, the Kansoul, Ethic, Benzema, Ssaru, Petra and Akothee.
His move comes after another gospel artiste Weezdom announced that he ditched the gospel music industry over what he termed as too much hatred in the gospel world.
Now the only person I waiting for to officially declare that he has left the industry is Willy Paul. Will he?
