Better the devil you know than the angel you don’t know.
Many married women are normally faced with the predicament of whether to leave their husbands or staying with them despite knowing that they are being cheated on.
Many women get mixed feelings when they think of the life that they have gotten accustomed to or the investments or even being emotionally attached.
Below are some of the reasons why married women don’t walk away:
If there is something that brings couples together is the fact that they have children together. This is normally a symbol of unity among most families. Women tend to be very emotionally and physically attached to their children and use them as a ticket to staying with the men that they know is either cheating behind their nose or outwardly to their faces.
A family is normally complete with both parents and that is why women will tend to suppress their feelings and hold onto the marriage till things become better.
Marriage is all about investing with and in each other. So many women will not want to leave a cheating partner owing to the fact that they have really invested so much together and divorcing will lead to dividing their properties or not gaining even a cent from the marriage. Such an act may make some women very depressed or lead to suicidal thoughts, faced with the thought of losing everything.
Women more than men face stigma. From being blamed for the end of the marriage, to society referring to them repeatedly as divorcees, many women opt to remain in that relationship, to avoid the shame and guilt.
Your status is any marriage is based on the significant other you have gotten married to. Women tend to remain married to a cheating spouse due to the already acquired position in the marriage. It would be better for them to suppress their feelings and feel hurt but not divorce their cheating spouse due to the status of the man or the position the marriage has allowed them to hold.
- Due to the Bible
In our culture today many see divorce as a positive solution to a troubled marriage. But a staunch Christian woman will shun the idea of divorce because it’s discouraged. Marriage being a covenant and having vowed before a priest and the church, they feel it’s an abomination to oneself and God.
The Bible says in Malachi 2:16, “I hate divorce!” And why does He hate divorce? One reason is that marriage is meant to be a special covenant between a man, a woman, and their God.
Ask God to show you what you can do to rebuild your marriage. Remember, God, specializes in redeeming the unredeemable. It is His preeminent desire for your marriage.
