Michael Njogo Gitonga alias ‘Uhunye’, a resident of Umoja has left everyone talking after his striking resemblance with President Uhuru photos were shared online.
The father of three says that people mistake him for president Uhuru Kenyatta and often hides his face with a face mask as people always ask for handouts.
Speaking in an interview with Inooro TV, Njogo says he enjoys the fame but it has cost him much.
“Kwanza siwezi enda Githurai. labda nivae mavitu. I cannot walk out of this estate without people asking me for handouts, I have suffered with this name,” he said.
He said that the striking resemblance to that of president Uhuru “confuses” him too.
“It confuses me because I’m confused as to why I look like President Kenyatta, it is very unusual,” said Njogo.
The mason by profession explained that he has never come close to Uhuru or his family.
He says that his mother once worked in Gatundu as a security officer.
“My dad loved me so much, tulikua tunaenda na yeye kila mahali,” he said adding that he is the bread winner in his family.
If he had a moment with the President Njogo says he would ask him if they are brothers.
Njogo also noted that the coronavirus pandemic has affected his source of income as a local bar where he worked suspended operations as the government imposed strict measures to curb the spread of the virus.
