On January 19, 2017 at 10.10 politician Isaac Mwaura and wife, Mukami welcomed baby Mwaura Maigua Mwaura Jr who arrived at 1.2 kg, a minute later baby Njiru Maigua Mwaura arrived weighing 1.12kg and a minute later beautiful Njeri Maigua Mwaura made her majestic entrance at 1.02kg.
But the triple bundle of joy was not to be.
“The babies were rushed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)- a place I would call home for the next 3 months. And that began a difficult journey …a journey of tears, joy , Doubt, Hope, prayer, joy, questions, repentance but mostly experiencing God,” Mukani reminises about the journey of losing two of her triplets.
The sole surviving triplet, baby Njiru turned a year old a while back.
“As I approach my son’s birthday my heart is very conflicted. It should be a day of thanksgiving, I ought to look forward to the day my baby turns 1 but I have a lot of mixed emotions. I am so proud of Njiru, for the far he has come and for the way he makes us happy; for all the joy he has brought to our lives. I can never imagine life without my precious little miracle but at the same time I am filled with sadness. Remembering that I delivered 3 children on 19th January 2017. My baby girl and baby boy are already gone. They were too special for earth,” Mukami wrote on social media.
Isaac Mwaura gushed about baby Njiru saying, “This is a great miracle. Every day I see the little milestones and am so very glad. We truly thank GOD. Thanks my dear wife for the courage, resilience and determination.”
Mukami added, “Exactly an year ago, baby Njiru left the hospital at 6pm, 10 weeks after birth. He left the hospital weighing 1.8kg from a birth weight of 1.12kg. This boy was strong and stubborn. Nothing could put him down. Always pozing funnily in the incubator n crying the loudest (even though no one could hear him) …. My greatest miracle …. Njiru proved that the greatest gifts come in small packages. so grateful for our awesome Doctor Atul…. and the wonderful wonderful NICU nurses at Nairobi hospital . you guys will always have a special place in my heart. These memories bring tears to my eyes….
