The 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony stirred up quite a buzz on the internet due to a performance that sparked mixed reactions.

In this tableau, drag queens and dancers lined a long table, creating an image that some thought resembled Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic “The Last Supper” portrait of Jesus Christ and his 12 apostles.

While some considered it a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and inclusivity, others found it “mockery” and “insulting to Christian people.”

The artistic director clarified that there was no intention to be subversive or disrespectful. The tableau drew attention and controversy, but it was part of a larger spectacle that included various bold performances.

In one shot, DJ Barbara Butch was dressed as a goddess with models draped on either side of her, which some interpreted as disrespectful to Christianity.

The controversy led to an apology from the Olympics organizers, who acknowledged that the banquet scene resembled “The Last Supper” and offended some viewers.

Several celebrities expressed their concern about the matter, speaking publicly about how humiliating it was.

Actor and comedian Rob Schneider expressed his disapproval, stating, “I cannot watch an Olympics that disrespects Christianity and openly celebrates Satan.”

Former “Biggest Loser” trainer Jillian Michaels also criticized the moment, highlighting the hypocrisy of demanding tolerance and respect while mocking something sacred to over 2 billion Christians.

Even Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker called the drag queen performance “crazy” and quoted the Bible in response.

Candace Cameron took to her Instagram, posting a video of her disappointment, stating, "To watch such an incredible and wonderful event that's going to take place over the next two weeks and see the opening ceremonies completely blaspheme and mock the Christian faith with their interpretation of the Last Supper was disgusting."

She added, "It made me so sad. And someone said, ‘You shouldn't be sad. You should be mad about it.' And I'm like, ‘Trust me. It makes me mad.' But I’m more sad because I'm sad for souls."
