Catherine Kamau alias Kate Actress is a Kenyan actor, an award-winning personality, content creator, entrepreneur, and a mother. 

She was born in February 1987. She has two children Leon Karanja and Karla Njeri. 

She was married to Phillip Karanja, a film producer, writer and director, but divorced in 2023. She is now dating Michael Mwangi. 

She is currently making headlines as she was chosen by the president to accompany him to the US for his state visit.

Kate and Butita were the only ones selected from the entertainment industry.

Kate started her acting journey back in school. She studied at Chogoria High School. 

At Chogoria, she participated in the drama club where she showcased her acting skills.

Later, she started her professional acting career at 21 when she was featured in the Citizen TV program - Mother-in-law. 

She was introduced to the show by her cousin Tina who was Ras's wife on the program'. It is in this show that Kate's character 'Selina' brought her to the limelight. 

She first featured as a dancer and a receptionist. She later took the main role of Selina who was Charlie's wife and Olive's step-mum.

She was one of the loved characters in the show until she decided to quit.

"I joined Mother-In-Law at the age of 21 and left at the age of 28. I owe my life to that show because it was a game-changer,” she said.

She also featured in other movies such as Sue na Johnie-2017, Plan B-2018, Maempress-2019 , Disconnect-2019.

Kate's fame as an actress opened doors for business endorsements. 

She became the brand ambassador for Harpic. She has been the brand ambassador for Harpic for over seven years.

This deal is what gave her her first million after which the company tripled her earnings from what she quoted.

 She also works with L'Oréal's Kenyan company, Interconsumer Products as the brand ambassador for Nice & Lovely lotions and jelly.

She is also a brand ambassador for Colgate-Palmolive's Sta Soft fabric softener.

In her acting, she has been able to star in Netflix movies which has been a big deal for her since Netflix is an international platform.

The movies include Disconnect, The Wedding Planner, Click Click Bang  and currently showing on Netflix Nafsi with her role as 'Shiko'

 Kate Actress was feted the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) award by President William Ruto in the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations. 

The award was bestowed on her in recognition of her outstanding service and contributions to the nation.

At the African Women's Awards 2023, Kate walked away with the award title Actress of the Year. She also scooped the African Female Actor of the Year at Ladies in Media Awards (LIM).

Kate actress won the award for the Fashion Influencer of the Year at the 2023 Pulse Influencer Awards.

In 2022 Kate ventured into a business where she launched her own cosmetic line known as 'House of Humba'
