President Ruto mourns the Deputy Governor of Lamu

Mr. Ndung’u passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Nairobi Hospital, where he was receiving treatment after falling ill.

President William Ruto has joined the people of Lamu County in mourning the death of their Deputy Governor, Raphael Munyua Ndung’u.

Mr. Ndung’u passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Nairobi Hospital, where he was receiving treatment after falling ill.

While mourning him, President Ruto described the deceased as a progressive leader who tirelessly worked for the people of Lamu.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of the Deputy Governor of Lamu County, Raphael Munyua Ndung'u," President Ruto said.

The President also extended his condolences to the family of the late politician and all the people of Lamu County during their time of loss.

"He was a development-oriented leader who worked tirelessly for the great benefit of the people of Lamu. Our love and prayers are with the family, friends, and the people of Lamu County during this time of sorrow. Rest in peace," he added.

Lamu Governor Issa Timamy revealed that his deputy passed away at around 6:30 PM on Friday.

In his condolence message, the county leader described the deceased as more than just his deputy.

"He was a colleague, a close friend, a brother, and a dedicated servant of the people of Lamu. His unwavering commitment to the development and welfare of our county was evident in every task he undertook, and his passion for uplifting the lives of our people was unparalleled," Timamy said.

The governor went on to extend his sympathies to the Munyua family and urged the people of Lamu to honor the deceased by continuing to uphold what he stood for.
