Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has admitted that the club is not prepared to challenge Arsenal and Manchester City for the Premier League title for the 2024/25 season.

Speaking to DAZN in Portugal, Fernandes said, "Yes, I fully understand that Manchester United is not ready to win the Premier League."

"In reality, we are aiming for the title with concrete and realistic goals of trying to finish in the top four, which qualifies us for the Champions League. But there is still a lot to improve for bigger goals, and my dream is to one day win this championship."

The Red Devils have had a poor start to the season, winning only one of their first three games and suffering consecutive losses.

United had a disappointing season last year despite winning the FA Cup under Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag, and this season has been no different.

Manchester United currently sits in 14th place with just three points, compared to Manchester City's nine points from their three games.

Following a heavy defeat to Liverpool, fans and critics have questioned Ten Hag's ability to compete with top teams. However, Fernandes has tempered expectations, stating that winning the title was not in the cards and is not achievable this season.

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro made mistakes in two of the goals against Liverpool and was criticized by fans and analysts despite his extensive experience and success in La Liga. The Portuguese midfielder defended his teammate.
