Athlete Rebecca Cheptegei Passes Away

Ugandan athlete Rebecca Cheptegei, who was severely burned by her Kenyan partner, Dickson Ndiema, has passed away today.

Reports indicate that Rebecca had been receiving ongoing medical treatment.

The horrific incident occurred in Trans Nzoia County, where Rebecca sustained severe burns over 80% of her body, putting her life at significant risk despite being rushed to the hospital.

Her death comes just hours after the Ministry of Sports in Kenya promised to address her specialized medical care here in Kenya.

Ndiema is said to have attacked Rebecca after leaving church, pouring petrol on her and setting her alight.

Despite being rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, her injuries indicated severe danger to her life.
