President William Ruto has, for the first time, explained why he prefers speaking to crowds from the top of his car.
While speaking in Bungoma County, President Ruto stated that for a long time, he worked as an evangelist, spreading the gospel to large groups of people.
He mentioned that he was used to standing on elevated platforms to preach, and this habit followed him into politics.
The head of state said that due to his experience as an evangelist standing on high places to spread the gospel, he has become accustomed to addressing people from the top of his car.
"I am an evangelist, and many people wonder why I sometimes stand in elevated places, sometimes on top of a car. It's because when your calling is that of an evangelist, you develop the habits of an evangelist even when doing other things," he said.
The President made it clear that once he completes his term as President, he will return to spreading the gospel as an evangelist.
"I have made a promise that when I finish my term as President, I will go back to being an evangelist because that is my original calling," he said.
In recent times, the President has come under pressure from some Kenyans, who criticize him for what they believe is early campaigning by touring various parts of the country and addressing people from the top of his car.
