Maina Kageni’s message to Eliud Kipchoge after he dropped out of Paris Marathon

Media personality Maina Kageni has penned a message of appreciation to Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge after he dropped out of the Paris Marathon during the Olympics.

Maina noted that Champions of the world are never noted by a single race but the legacy they built.

“Champions aren't defined by a single race, but by their legacy. Eliud Kipchoge, you've shown us what it truly means to break barriers. Your journey from humble beginnings to shattering the 2-hour marathon to inspiring millions worldwide is the real victory,” Maina said in part.

“The Paris course may have been brutal, but your spirit remains unbroken. You've taught us that limits are just illusions, and that true greatness lies in pushing beyond what seems possible.

He added; “To the man who redefined human potential, we say thank you. Your race isn't over; it's just changing course,”.

The Classic 105 presenter further congratulated Benson Kipruto who won Bronze in the marathon.

“Congratulations to Benson Kipruto for bringing home the bronze! 🇰🇪 Kenya's spirit of excellence lives on! Here's to the next chapter of your inspiring journey! Thank you #EliudKipchoge,” Maina said.

Kipruto clocked 2:07:00 in a race won by Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola, while Belgium’s Bashir Abdi finished second.

Former champion Eliud Kipchoge could not sustain the tempo and did not finish the race.

Things started looking bad for Kipchoge, 39, as soon as the leading pack hit the 15-kilometre mark.

Kipchoge began drifting away and backwards and at the 19-kilometre mark, he had dropped from eighth to 16th position.

The race, touted as the toughest in history, proved as much to other elite runners including Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele who finished in the 39th position.
