Ruto, Raila praise Chebet for winning 2nd Gold at Olympics

This is the first time a Kenyan woman has won an Olympic Gold medal in the 10,000m race.

President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga have both praised World Record holder Beatrice Chebet following her impressive achievement of securing a second Gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Just days after her victory in the Women's 5,000m race, Chebet once again triumphed in the Women's 10,000m race.

President Ruto expressed the nation's pride in her accomplishments.

"Congratulations to Beatrice Chebet for winning the Women's 10,000m race. We are proud of your spectacular Double Olympic Gold — the first for an individual athlete at the Paris 2024," the President stated.

This victory marks the first time a Kenyan woman has won an Olympic Gold medal in the 10,000m race.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga also commended Chebet's remarkable success, describing it as 'fantastic.'

"Congratulations to Beatrice Chebet for a brilliant performance in the 10,000 metres, securing Kenya its second gold medal of these Olympics! A fantastic achievement on her second gold medal—Hongera," Raila remarked on X.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua highlighted that Chebet's exceptional performance has firmly established her name in the history of the Olympic Games.

He emphasized the nation's pride in her victories.

"A beautiful run, a scintillating win! Congratulations, Beatrice Chebet, for winning the 10,000m race at the Paris Olympics, bringing home the second gold medal.

"We are extremely grateful for your outstanding performance that has permanently secured your two heroic victories at these games in the annals of Olympic history. You are a hero, our Champion," the DP said.

Other leaders have also extended their congratulations, adding to the chorus of admiration for Chebet's achievements.
