Kenyan female athletes participating in the Olympic Games have showcased their exquisite talents.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Beatrice Chebet, a Kenyan long-distance runner, distinguished herself in the athletics world by winning gold in the women’s 5,000 meters, finishing in 14 minutes and 28.56 seconds.

Her compatriot, Faith Kipyegon, initially secured silver in the same race but was disqualified due to an obstruction incident with Ethiopian athlete Gudaf Tsegay.

Following a successful appeal by Kenya to World Athletics, Kipyegon was reinstated in second place and her silver medal was returned.

Additionally, Mary Moraa clinched bronze in the women’s 800 meters, with Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma taking silver behind Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson.

The Malaika Strikers, Kenya’s women’s volleyball team, began their Paris 2024 Olympics campaign on a challenging note.

They faced a formidable Brazilian team and unfortunately succumbed to a 3-0 defeat (25-14, 25-13, 25-12) in their opening match at the South Paris Arena.

Other notable Kenyan female marathon athletes representing Kenya include Hellen Obiri, Brigid Kosgei, and Peris Jepchirchir.

Overall, Kenyan athletes have won 113 medals in total in the Olympics, primarily in boxing and track and field events, making them the most successful African committee at the Olympics.
