We don’t want another lockdown - Maina & King’ang’i after 1st case of Mpox was reported in Kenya

On July 31, the Ministry of Health confirmed the first case of Mpox at the Taita-Taveta one-stop border point (OSBP).

Radio hosts Maina Kageni and Mwalimu King’ang’aui have reacted to the news that the first case of  Mpox has been reported in Kenya.

On July 31, the Ministry of Health confirmed the first case of Mpox at the Taita-Taveta one-stop border point (OSBP).

In a statement on Wednesday,  MoH said the patient was traveling from Uganda to Rwanda through Kenya.

MoH has now warned the public to avoid close contact with persons with suspected or confirmed disease. Mpox (formerly monkeypox) is an illness caused by the monkeypox virus.

Patients present with skin rash or mucosal lesions, fever, headache, generalized aches, and swollen lymph nodes.

“Sasa hizi ni gani? After zile sindano mlinidunga juu a Covid? Hii kazi sifanyi tena” 😂😂 - Mwalimu King’ang’I said.

The two radio kings said they were not ready for another lockdown just in case the Mpox spread in the country.

We cannot afford another lockdown. We are trying to recover from Covid-and you are here telling us about this,” Mwalimu said.

Maina added; Mpoz is one of those that you have to wash your hands regularly, avoid conduct with those infected,”.

Mwalimu further stated that he can’t not imagine going through all the injections he was subjected to during the Covid period,”.
