Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has declined calls to join President William Ruto's government as Attorney General.

The veteran politician, known for her staunch criticism of Ruto's administration, stated on Saturday that she is not interested in the position.

Karua responded to an endorsement by social media user Peter Kariuki, who suggested she fits the bill for Attorney General, with a simple, "Thanks, not interested."

Kariuki's endorsement message read: "I support Martha Karua for the position of Attorney General. Her advice is much needed by the Government. Martha Karua should take the position immediately."

Karua has consistently maintained a firm stance against joining the Kenya Kwanza government. She has been vocal in calling for the administration's exit due to its failure to meet the people's expectations.

Her party, Narc Kenya, recently issued a notice of intention to exit the Azimio coalition after four members of ODM joined Ruto's cabinet, further indicating her unwillingness to work with Ruto.

This announcement came as a surprise, given her assurance during a radio interview on Tuesday that her relationship with coalition boss Raila Odinga remained solid. "We talked not too long ago, and we'll be able to talk again, the lines are open," Karua said.

Instead of joining the government, Karua has called for the strengthening of the opposition to continue mounting pressure on the Kenya Kwanza government to fulfill its promises. She also praised Raila's idea to withdraw his candidacy for the African Union Commission as a supportive move for their mission.

"To his credit, he has said he is even ready to forfeit his candidature at AUC, which means he has now freed himself from being arm-twisted," Karua stated during the radio interview.

The ODM members named to the cabinet are John Mbadi (Treasury), Hassan Joho (Mining and Blue Economy), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MSME Development), and Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum).
