Media personality Janet Mbugua has expressed support for the anger displayed by Kenyan youths who are demanding improvements for themselves and their country.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mbugua endorsed the youth's push for better services, asserting that their anger is justified.

"I don't know who needs to hear this, but your anger is entirely justified. You are not foolish for demanding better for yourself, your family, your community, and your country," she said.

"You are not delusional for standing on the right side of history and hoping for change, even when those meant to protect you are working against you."

The former TV news anchor criticized the broken system that has led Kenyan youth to demand change.

Janet Mbugua emphasized that the feelings of the young people are valid and their bravery in confronting authority and seeking better conditions is commendable.

"It’s not you; you are not the problem. The broken system is the real issue. Your feelings are valid, and your anger is shared by many. Your daily courage and your pursuit of a better future, even at great personal cost, are noble."

Mbugua added that she hopes, once the turmoil is over, people will look back and appreciate the support they received.

"And together, we can say, ‘It is done; we are free.’"

Her comments come in anticipation of another round of protests planned for Tuesday, amidst a heavy security presence in Nairobi County.

The bi-weekly protests, which began in June as demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024, have continued for over a month.

Human rights groups report that at least 50 people have been killed since the protests started, with the actual number potentially being higher.
