Tanzanian gospel singer Bonny Mwaitege has finally quashed the rumours that he has passed away.

The musician, known for popular songs like "Mke Mwema," was reported to have been involved in a severe road accident, rumours that have been dispelled and denied by his wife.

His wife confirmed that Mwaitege is alive and in good health.

Speaking to Millard Ayo, Mwaitege's wife was quoted saying, "Bonny Mwaitege is perfectly fine, he just returned from a trip to Kenya and arrived home safely, he is resting."

Kamba gospel singer Stephen Kasolo also dismissed the unexpected claims of Mwaitege's death.

"I have confirmed that Bonny Mwaitege is okay, someone is being used to tarnish his name and spread false information. Kenyans, let’s stop posting such news, let’s pray for him and other musicians as well."

Tanzanian gospel singer Christopher Mwahangila also indicated that the rumours were false.

Some social media users had reported that Mwaitege was returning from a gospel concert when the false accident occurred.

Mwaitege is known for songs like "Sisi Sote," "Mama Ni Mama," "Maisha Ni Foleni," "Utanitambuaje," among others.

Mwaitege started his music career as a backup singer and dancer in a Tanzanian music band before venturing out as a solo artist.
