President William Ruto announced on Sunday that he will "protect the nation," emphasizing that he had already given everyone a chance to voice their opinions.

Speaking in Bomet County after attending a church service, President Ruto addressed the Generation Zoomers (Gen Z), declaring that "enough is enough."

The President stated that he had made significant concessions in response to the protesters' demands, including rejecting the Finance Bill of 2024, yet the protests persist.

"I dropped the Finance Bill, I called them to come to the table and talk to me, they refused and asked me to go to X, I went there but they ran away," Ruto said.

"I have called them for talks, but they have refused, saying they are faceless and formless."

The President had requested the young people to nominate 50 representatives to participate in the multi-sectoral forum that was supposed to begin last Monday.

However, the six-day forum did not commence as planned because various sectors allegedly failed to submit names of nominees.

The dialogue was intended to address the issues raised by the protesters and other challenges facing the country.

President Ruto issued a stern warning to Gen Z, stating that it will no longer be business as usual.

"I have told them, my friends, it must now come to an end. I have given everyone a chance to say whatever they want, but it can't continue like this. The country is more important than any group of people. We must stand together as a nation and protect our nation," he said.

"Going forward, we will protect the nation, we will protect lives, we will protect property, stop the looters, stop the killers, stop the mayhem because Kenya is a democracy, and we want a stable nation," he added.

The President criticized the protesters and their leaders for failing to articulate their end game after the destruction of property and loss of lives.

"I want to promise you that it is going to stop. Enough is enough," the President told the public outside the church.

This is the President's strongest warning to the protesters since the demonstrations began in June.

The warning also comes days after President Ruto made several Cabinet appointments, including reinstating Kithure Kindiki as Interior CS. He also implemented a series of changes in the police command following a major reorganization, with protesters stating they would return to the streets this week.
