Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has expressed her disappointment with the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Faith Odhiambo, for rejecting President William Ruto's appointment.

President Ruto had included Odhiambo in the task force to review the national debt.

LSK stated that the appointment was unconstitutional.

Nyamu said that Odhiambo's rejection prevents the opportunity to represent the interests of Kenyans in the debt review.

On social media, Nyamu expressed confusion about the LSK President's decision to reject the appointment.

“I am not sure why the LSK President Faith Odhiambo refused the President's appointment to the task force for the judicial review of public debt. She missed the chance to ensure that the interests of Kenyans are represented by the main lawyers' association, whose aim is to protect and assist the public in legal matters,” she said.

“Public debt is a significant challenge for our country, and I am disappointed that she did not want to be part of the solution,” she added.

President Ruto announced the task force on Friday, July 5.

The task force was given the mandate to assess the national debt, recommend payment terms and negotiation strategies, and identify the value of projects funded by the debt and investment returns.
