Youth Affairs, Sports, and the Arts CS Ababu Namwamba last night encountered a hostile crowd at Fred Omondi’s Last Laugh at Carnivore Grounds.

Namwamba had difficulty addressing Kenyans who had turned up in large numbers to pay tribute to the late Fred Omondi.

Namwamba was invited on stage to address those present at Omondi’s last laugh by Mwalimu Churchill but the crowd wanted nothing to do with his speech.

He tried to speak but the booing was too much to the extent that you could barely hear a word from him.

He went on with his speech amidst the noise, stating that he will not be silenced because we live in a democratic country that encourages Freedom of speech.

“We live in an amazing Country where everybody has a right to speak their mind. Asante sana, keep booing, keep cheering keep saying No as others say yes. That is what we call democracy, where those who can say No, say No, and those who say yes, can say yes.

Na mimi nawahakikishia tutaendelea kufanya kazi na tutaendelea kutoa heshima kwa creative. I want to assure creative today that for a long time, our sector has been ignored… but I want to assure creates that there is a new era in town,” Namwamba said.

Despite the heckling, CS Namwamba contributed Sh300,000 towards Fred Omondi’s burial arrangements.
