Diana Marua, wife of singer Kelvin Bahati, has opened up about the negative impact her parents' separation had on her and her sisters.

Diana's parents divorced many years ago when she was about six years old. The vlogger and her two sisters were left under the care of their father.

In her statement on Monday evening, she spoke about how difficult their upbringing was and the many challenges she faced at school.

"After my parents divorced 💔 my mother left us under the care of our father. I was about six years old, and my younger sister @mitch_ngoje was about five months old," Diana recounted.

She continued, “Our life growing up was tough. I was the worst-performing student in my class, going to school was torture, I was punished for not doing well, I remember being humiliated at school, being taken from class 8 to class 3 to be taught arithmetic by younger kids, I was made a laughing stock. At home, I was a mother to my sisters, a cook, and a nanny at the same time.”

The mother of three went on to talk about the frequent beatings she endured at home, to the point of wanting to run away. However, she couldn't leave because she cared about her younger sisters.

She revealed that she didn't get the chance to build a good relationship with her mother because she passed away shortly after Diana finished her secondary education.

“We didn't have a relationship with our mother, and shortly after I finished high school, I thought we would make up for lost time, but then she passed away a year later. I asked God… WHY NOW???? When I think back on those days, I remember the pain and sadness. I wouldn't wish such suffering on any growing child," she said.

The YouTube vlogger concluded by expressing her gratitude to God for wiping away her tears and giving her a family she can raise in a better environment.

"God, thank you for teaching me how to love my children unconditionally. How to give them the attention and love I never received. Heal my heart, help me forgive and let go 🙏🏼,” she said.
