Addressing the media, Dena said the claims by the State that the retired President enjoys a fully furnished and maintained office were surprising.

The Office of the Fourth President of Kenya claims that its staff have not been paid for two years.

Speaking during a press briefing on Monday, the office Spokesperson, Kanze Dena, said she cannot fully quantify the total amount involved.

"Unfortunately, we have not earned a salary for the last two years. I am not able to quantify how much it is that the former president has been able to spend because that includes fueling, the food we eat as staff, travel bills, electricity," Kanze stated.

She also alleged that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has not been provided with a fully furnished and maintained office.

Addressing the media, Dena said the claims by the State that the retired President enjoys a fully furnished and maintained office were surprising.

“The statement that the retired President enjoys a fully furnished and maintained office is incorrect. To date, the matter has never been resolved,” she said.

Dena clarified that the late President Mwai Kibaki had chosen the office in Nyari as suitable for himself.

Therefore, she asserted that Uhuru is also entitled to choose an office suitable for him to serve his mandate.

On May 19, State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed clarified that there is an office available for the former President.

"There’s an office complex in Nyari that has been used by a previous president, the late President Mwai Kibaki, and he occupied that office for 9 years. It is very well known that it is there and it's vacant, and President Uhuru Kenyatta can use that office as and when he deems fit," Mohamed stated.
