Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said the life history of musician Kevin Bahati mirrors his.

Gachagua revealed this during the launch of the musician's reality TV show dubbed ‘The Bahati Empire’ on Thursday.

The DP said just as Bahati rose from a humble background as an orphan to conquer the world stage through his talent in music, he(Gachagua) also rose from the same hardship.

DP said he was born in a grass-thatched house as a child of Mau Mau freedom fighters.

"I was in a grass-thatched house as a child of Mau Mau freedom fighters, my feet were invested by Jesus. I just learned how to walk well when I came to Nairobi so many years after and I have never looked back I believe in myself," Gachagua said.

"Through Talanta Hela we are investing in the growth of the creative industry. The sector is open to unlimited opportunities for our people, especially the youth."

In his speech, the DP praised Diana and Bahati for breaking barriers saying they are taking Kenyan content to the world.

"His work will be watched by 222,000, 000 people all over the world, from nothing to the world," DP said.

He added that the government is seeking partners and collaborations with social media apps to monetize content.

"We look forward to more couples conquering the globe," he added.

"For this my good couple you are a flame of inspiration.  As we launch the Bahatis empire tonight you are opening a window to showcasing Kenyan's creative economy. In this reality show, we are taking Kenyan content to the world. This is per our government's plan."
