Meet billionaire, Larry Connor going to see Titanic wreckage & months after another deadly trip

This decision comes after an incident of OceanGate vessel implosion that killed five passengers, that happened last year.

Ohio billionaire Larry Connor is planning a deep-sea submersible dive to the Titanic site to demonstrate the industry's improved safety.

Larry is a Dayton entrepreneur and founder of an investment firm, The Connor Group. Also a real estate investor from Dayton.

He plans to travel over 12,400 feet to the wreckage in a submersible designed by Triton Submarines co-founder Patrick Lahey.

The $20 million vessel, named the Triton 4000/2 Abyssal Explorer, can make repeated voyages.

Connor aims to show people worldwide that the ocean can be both powerful and enjoyable if approached correctly.

He and Lahey want to prove that such expeditions can be conducted without any disasters, unlike the tragic incident involving the Titan submersible.

However, Connor has not yet announced the date of their travel.

This decision comes after an incident of OceanGate vessel implosion that killed five passengers, that happened last year.

Five people who died aboard OceanGate’s Titan submersible last summer were; the company’s CEO Stockton Rush, ocean explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, aviation mogul Hamish Harding (who was referred to as a billionaire by some British news outlets but did not feature on Forbes' billionaire list), Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, 19-year-old Suleman Dawood.

The "experimental" submersible was unregulated and partially built using parts from RV supplier Camping World, multiple outlets reported at the time.

The sub lost communication with the surface less than two hours into its dive and rescuers searched for signs of life for days before debris was discovered about 500 yards from the bow of the sunken Titanic.

Apparently the vessels that weren't certified as safe and up to code, and that the explosion set back the entire industry.
