Ruto & Mama Rachel led the opening of Vivo Fashion's first store in Atlanta, Georgia

Vivo was founded by Wandia Gichuru and Anne Marie Burugu in 2011.

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto led the grand opening of a Kenyan brand, Vivo Fashion Group in Atlanta together with President William Ruto.

This happened during the President Ruto's state visit to the United States.

Vivo is East Africa's fastest-growing fashion business. It designs and manufactures 100% on the African continent, and distributes across Kenya.

It was founded by Wandia Gichuru and Anne Marie Burugu in 2011.

13 years on, they have been able to design and produce affordable, widely accessible and good quality clothing specifically for women of color and curvaceous women.

They currently have 23 retail stores across Kenya & Rwanda and over 360 employees, of which over 70% are women.  The latest store has just opened in Atlanta.

Upon doing this, the First Lady penned a gratifying message to the Vivo Fashion owner saying;

''Wandia Gichuru embodies our true entrepreneurial spirit and the power of dreaming big. She has continued to partner with other complementary Kenyan brands, demonstrating that together we can achieve more.''

She added a congratulatory message for the Kenyan brand, ''The internationalization of our home-grown brands like Vivo supports our manufacturing and export agenda as a nation, creating jobs and foreign exchange. Congratulations Vivo Fashion Group!''
