Award-winning rapper and businessman Kennedy Ombima aka King Kaka has revealed that so far he has injected at least Sh6 million in his recently launched Monkey business series.
Speaking to Mpasho Dennis Milimo, King mentioned that casting for his new series started in December last year and by January 2024 they were already shooting.
“Between December and now tumespend at least Sh6 million so I will do the math to know how much we have made from the premier of Monkey business,” King Kaka said.
He went on to state that a total of 162 people have been part of the making of “Monkey Business” the series.
“The minimum set was at least 40 people but kuna scenes za episode three where the number goes up to 162,” he added.
“This is my second film and I’m so happy. I hear there people who missed seats today and I’m very thankful because it just shows that people are excited and happy about the Kenyan film industry,”.
The Kaka Empire CEO expressed his gratitude towards wthose who showed up at Monkey Business premiere.
“I love loved this experience, seeing Kenyans all dressed up. Tailors have made a good fortune this week, the people who did décor and even those who pried our posters,”
Why did you settle on Scar Mkadinaki as the main act of Monkey business the series? Miliomo questioned King Kaka.
He replied; “Scar has been a good friend and he has also been very passionate about film, so I told him, do you know you can act? I always see you in music videos. So I took him to acting classes and he did very well,”.
The Launch of Monkey Business
The premiere of Monekey Business was graced by fans, the cast and crew, members of the Fourth Estate as well as well as several Kenyan celebrities.
Among those who were present at the premiere are; Charelene Ruto, Prezzo, Jalang’o, Mejja, Nameless, Wahu, Big Ted, Jacky Vike, Mulamwah, Nana Owiti, Pascal Tokodi, Sandra Dacha, Baba Talisha, Kabugi, Useful Idioty, Wololo TV, Senjee, Celestine ‘SELINA’ Gachui, Kerry Martin, Silva Kido, Dennis Milimo, Oga Obinna, Sosuun, Frasha, Janet Mbugua, Ndovu Kuu, Fathermoh, Ezekiel Mutua, King Kaka’s mother, Scar Makadinali, Eddie Butita, among others.
The new series "Monkey Business" features rapper Scar Mkadinali as the main character. Janet Mbugua, Prezzo, Azeezah Hashim, and other stars lead the journey through trials of loyalty, morality, and survival.
King Kaka’s wife Nana Owiti and the rapper's mother were also present.
