The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning, indicating that citizens should brace themselves for potential floods in at least seven regions across the country.

In its weather forecast spanning from April 2 to April 8, the Met Office has predicted heavy rainfall nationwide.

"Widespread rainfall is anticipated across the country, with particularly heavy downpours expected in the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Rift Valley, Southeast lowlands, Coast, Northeast, and Northwest regions. Residents in these areas are advised to be prepared for possible flooding," a statement from the Met Office's official account, Met X, stated.

However, the meteorologists mentioned that certain counties will experience high temperatures exceeding 30°C.

These counties include Turkana, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale.

Residents in these areas are encouraged to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

"Night-time temperatures are expected to remain high, surpassing 25°C, particularly along the Coast and in Northeastern Kenya," the Met Office further noted.

Last week, the Nairobi-based Igad Climate Predictions and Applications Centre (ICPAC) also issued warnings of heavy rains throughout April accompanied by above-average temperatures.

ICPAC stated that the rains are expected to subside towards the end of May across most parts of the country.

Moreover, southeastern Kenya, encompassing Ukambani and portions of the coast, is predicted to experience generally dry conditions by June.
