Veteran singer and coastal native Mwanaisha Abdalla, popularly known as Nyota Ndogo, has hinted at her plan to purchase a small aircraft.

In her Sunday evening statement, the mother of three claimed that the plane she intends to buy will undergo testing soon.

"There's a plane I want to buy, but next month we'll see if it can fly from Voi to Diani," Nyota Ndogo said via Instagram.

She accompanied her statement with a photo of a small plane commonly used for domestic flights.

The singer hinted that the plane she intends to buy will enable her to meet her fans from different parts of the country.

"I think I'll be able to visit even my fans. A small one could even land on the streets. Let's say Amen," she said.

It's unclear whether the veteran musician, who now runs a hotel in Voi, intends to buy a plane or if it's just a dream.

This comes just days after the musician was forced to defend herself vigorously after being accused of receiving food from former Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho.

Nyota Ndogo was among the Muslims who received food distributed by Joho in Taita Taveta County, which attracted criticism, with many accusing her of not deserving the food as it was intended for the needy during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

However, in a phone interview with a local radio station, Nyota Ndogo said she wouldn't refuse to accept the food as it was not intended as aid for the poor but rather as a meal for all Muslims fasting.

"The food was for the Ramadan fast, it wasn't for charity, it wasn't for the needy. Joho thought let's share iftar for Ramadan, those fasting are not the needy," Nyota Ndogo clarified.

Explaining being called a rich person who doesn't deserve to receive food, Nyota Ndogo said it was just gossip and bad intentions, adding that she never once claimed to be rich.

"People should stop with the bad intentions, and never have I ever declared myself as rich or having money. If I had money, I would bake chapatis all day long," she said.
