Benson Mutua alias Bensoul will be at the forthcoming Raha Fest.

BenSoul joined Sol Generation in 2019 when Sauti Sol officially launched the record label.

Bensoul decided to pursue his passion for music after dropping out of the Technical University of Kenya.

In an interview with a local media house, Ben shared

“I was called to the Technical University of Kenya to do Civil Engineering. I did it for three years and dropped out in my fourth year and said this wasn’t for me. There’s this day, I attended Power 254 and saw three boys who were dressed so weirdly. I borrowed a Kenchez guitar from H_art the band. They told me they wanted a bass player, and I saw it as an opportunity to keep me busy,” 

Bensoul recently moved out of Sol Generation which he had been signed to since 2019.

In an interview on Kiss FM, Papa Soul disclosed that he is leaving the label to establish his empire dubbed 'Lion of Sudah.

“We have found ways of making a very smooth transition into me being independent and I have my team.

"Considering everything that I have learned at Sol Generation I feel like I’m ready to handle my empire and make sure I take care of other artistes on the way.

“I feel like I’m in a better place and I want to be on my own- work on my life, my career, and everything," Bensoul said. 

Apart from enjoying music Bensoul has been in the forefront championing the legalization of weed."

"Whoever made weed illegal, they were doing it politically and they were trying to oppress the black people. Most countries have legalized weed because they have realized its value. Tumelalia pesa yetu. I have never seen anyone go crazy because of weed, and it has never been recorded. Most people who go crazy do so because of other drugs,” Ben said during a sit down with Anyiko Owoko.

Other than Femi One the concert features a unique lineup of both local talents and renowned African artists, Nadia Mukami, Hart the Band, Nviiri the Storyteller, Samidoh, Otile Brown, and Congolese sensation JB Mpiana.
