2 killed, bodies burnt after stealing funeral cash

Two individuals lost their lives and suffered post-mortem burns after they forcefully entered a funeral fundraising event in Mombasa.

As per a police report dated February 9, a group of nine suspects armed with machetes and crude weapons disrupted the funeral, assaulting mourners.

The suspects reportedly attacked a resident, stealing items such as a laptop, musical instruments, phones, and funeral contributions, among other valuables.

The assailants also vandalised three vehicles during the attack. Subsequently, a mob reportedly located the suspects, resulting in the death of two individuals who were later burned beyond recognition.

The police report classified the incident as malicious damages, and the bodies of the deceased suspects await autopsy at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
