Narok Senator Ledama Olekina spent a chilly Friday night stranded on a flooded road, prompting a renewed plea to Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen for crucial upgrades.

Heavy rains transformed a section of the key artery linking Narok County and Tanzania into an impassable obstacle, forcing Olekina and other travelers to wait helplessly until daybreak.

The Senator, accompanied by local residents, was returning from a county-wide tour to inspect ongoing projects when the unexpected deluge struck.

In a video shared online, Olekina addressed Murkomen directly, contrasting his own predicament with the Minister's likely comfortable morning in "a beautiful house" in Elgeyo Marakwet or Nairobi.

"This is where I spend the night with all these beautiful Kenyans and vehicles... This road used to be rural, but now it's under KeNHA," Olekina pointed out.

"Before upgrading it to bitumen, please consider building a bridge here! We shouldn't have to be stranded another night like this."

He further highlighted the road's strategic importance, connecting Narok to Tanzania and passing through Environment CS Soipan Tuya's home region.

Meanwhile, heavy rains continue to lash several parts of Kenya, causing flash floods and disrupting transportation.

The Kenya Meteorological Department forecasts further downpours in the west, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Central Highlands, and southeastern and southern coastal regions.
