Uhuru Kenyatta, the former president, has urged Kenyans to band together and serve God.

Uhuru encouraged Kenyans to work together to benefit humanity in his Christmas message.

"Fellow Kenyans, as citizens of this great nation called Kenya, we ought to take to heart, the lesson of Christmas," he said.

"Let us share the little or much that God has blessed us with to ensure none amongst us goes hungry," Uhuru added.

The former Head of State added that a wide variety of people from all origins, faiths, and tribes call Kenya home, calling it our country.

"It is this recognition that should give us the impetus to pull our strengths together and strive to make Kenya even better," Uhuru stated.

The head of the Jubilee Party also asked Kenyans, particularly those who use the roads, to exercise caution and responsibility throughout the holiday season.

"Let us all be responsible during this festive season more so on our roads. “Better arrive late than never” and be mindful of other road users," Uhuru said.

"Finally, from my entire family and I, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Merry Christmas to all Kenyans! " he added.

On Saturday, the family of the former president celebrated an early Christmas with a number of children's shelters.

He talked to the kids and gave them presents before Christmas.

Uhuru added in a statement that the holiday season is an opportunity to spread virtues to everyone.

"Once again Christmas is here; a time to remember and apply our shared values of compassion, sharing and communion. We share this holiday with all people of all persuasions because what we celebrate are cherished universal human impulses," he said.

"Let the holidays bring us closer to each other so that collectively, we can lighten our burden and brighten our journey. Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year!”.

Gatundu Children's Home, Mama Ngina Children's Home, Mama Fatuma Children's Home, St. Dorcas Educational Centre, and Mary Faith Rescue Centre were among the children's homes.

That same day, Uhuru gave Faithful a Sh1 million Christmas donation at a church in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Even though Uhuru wasn't in the JCM Church, he called the pastor and asked to speak to the congregation over the loudspeaker.

The former president claimed he had heard from someone that the church was hosting a party for people who are struggling to make ends meet.

“I told him I could not abandon our people and whatever he is doing, I will top him up. I have told him I will extend Sh1 million so that he can buy unga for more people. I wish you happy holidays to you all and your families and may God solve the problems we are going through,” Uhuru said amid cheers from the worshipers.
