Last Saturday, December 16th, Crazy Kennar's Happy Country show's final act included singer Bien of Sauti Sol and Jacky Vike, also known as Awinja.

Jacky talked at the show about being honoured on December 12th, when Kenya celebrated Jamhuri Day where she was awarded the Grand Warrior Order (OGW).

Jacky's name was among those in President William Ruto's Gazette Notice number 16986.

She wrote of her delight and pride. "Honored OGW is the title, grateful."

Several Kenyans who believed they deserved credit were left off the list. In addition to Senator Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi and CS Moses Kuria, comedian Eric Omondi vented about not being one of the recipients of a national honour.

In response to his omission, Jacky Vike spoke with YouTuber Trudy Kitui.

"For me what I can say is I don't understand the criteria they used, I respect Erico, he is a very good friend of mine, of course, I have seen people saying that -he was left out again I don't know what criteria they used," the actress said.

Vike also spoke about how she is benefitting from the honor, and that she has no interest in politics.

"Sina interest na siasa at all I've been recognized because of what I do, which is entertaining the people and that's what I will keep doing," she explained.

She added, "So si ati sasa nimekuwa recognized for entertainment ni divert to something else. I will keep this, making Kenyans happy that's my plan."

What benefits come with the award?

"I am still learning juzi tulikuwa na Bien and he told me the benefits that come with such an honour, which made me go eh oh wacha! So I'm still getting to know the benefits.

At the moment what I can say is I'm still processing this, one I can say I am truly humbled, I am grateful, you know, most of the time when you do our content, we don't do it to get recognized. We do our content because we love it. After all, this is something that's in our hearts," she said.

"It's our passion, tunapenda kuifanya and we don't do it to get awards or anything. But ikikuja ukiwa recognized that's a plus for us,".
