Kakamega man dies after falling into a pit latrine trying to recover a phone

A 29-year-old man identified as Salim Opupa Opondo has died while trying to retrieve a phone from a pit latrine.

Ironically, the phone was not his.

The phone belonged to Semion Busaka , who reported that he went to relieve himself inside a pit latrine when his mobile fell into the pit latrine.

According to police, the incident happened in Emakwale area within Lusheya location where one 

Officials from Kakamega County Fire Brigade were called and managed to retrieve the body.

The body was washed and taken to a local mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.

Elsewhere in Mugutha, Juja, Kiambu County, the body of a man was found floating in a dam.

Police said the body was found in Titanic Dam and is believed to have been killed elsewhere and dumped there.

Police with the help of the locals retrieved the body and identified the victim as Moses Ndirangu Kirogo aged 24.

He had been missing since October 15 until five days later when the body was discovered.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe into the suspected murder of suicide.

A man was electrocuted as he fixed power on a pole in Muyavwa sub-location in Busia County.

The man who was identified as Vincent Omondi was on duty when he was hit by the live wire, police said.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon.

Police said he died on the spot after being burnt severely.

The body was moved to a local mortuary.
