Prepaid electricity token services have resumed, according to Kenya Power.

This comes after Kenyans had trouble purchasing the tokens on Thursday morning.

Kenya Power stated in a statement on Tuesday that a problem with the token system had been fixed.

"We are happy to inform you that the prepaid system hitch has been resolved and customers can now purchase electricity tokens," the statement read.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused."

The prepaid system is used to purchase electricity tokens.

In an earlier update, Kenya had said they were looking into the matter.

"We are experiencing a hitch on the prepaid system which is affecting the generation of electricity tokens," the notice read.

Kenya Power however said that they are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible.
