Safaricom PLC has announced that some of its services will be unavailable on Sunday as the Telco conducts routine network maintenance.

In a statement, Safaricom said the planned network maintenance will be done on Sunday evening from 11 pm to Monday 4 am.

During the said period, it is anticipated that several services will be available intermittently.

“To support even more innovations and growth in customer demand for our services, we will be carrying out planned network maintenance on the evening of Sunday October 8 2023 from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am Monday October 9 2023,” reads the statement.

The service include Lipa Na M-PESA Pay Bill and Buy Goods, M-PESA business to customer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B), USSD services including *100# and *200#, Daraja Portal and all M-PESA API’s.

Others include M-Shwari, KCB M-PESA and M-Kesho, pinless top-up, loT services, M-PESA App and Safaricom App, international money transfers (Western Union) and MPESA Global as well as M-PESA organization portal, Dealer portal and Lipa na M-PESA portal.

However, Safaricom said that all other services including calls, data and SMS and all other M-PESA services will be available as usual.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and that you for your support in maintaining our position as the country’s leading provider,” it said.

Just last month, Safaricom launched a revamped in-country cloud computing platform and services, to help businesses and organisations digitize their operations.

It offers flexibility and resilience to an ever-changing environment.

The new cloud services, hosted in data centres in Nairobi and Kisumu are powered by VMware technologies.

The additional services include but are not limited to the ability for customers to run their applications with the flexibility to allocate cloud computing capabilities on a single pane of glass.

The features allow customers to buy cloud computing capabilities in bulk and set up the environment to suit the business application requirements.

Chief enterprise business officer at Safaricom Cynthia Karuri-Kropac says the initiative signifies a new era of possibilities for businesses as a catalyst for innovation and growth.
